Discusses all the legalities of getting a divorce, including lawyer selection, what happens to the kids, child support, and ways to keep from acting out of guilt or resentment
What a good resource for someone who is contemplating a divorce, and definitely for someone going through one. I looked into this book when my husband and I were going through a patch where we felt divorce was the only option and wanted to be prepared for what would lay in store for us if we went down that road. Talk about motivation to try again to work things out! However, I must say that although hearing about the whole process, along with all it's potential pitfalls, was scary, it also gave me a little peace of mind, which is what I was looking for in the first place. Talia gives great advice for both sides of the situation for how to go through an already painful process as quickly, inexpensively, and painlessly as possible. Some of it is common sense, but you need to hear it when you're in the middle of an emotional situation and not thinking clear headedly, and some of it is stuff I would never have though of and am so glad I know now instead of finding out the hard way. I read the entire book cover to cover (even though many parts did not apply directly to my situation) and finished it in 2 days. It's an easy read with very practical advice and very relevant, easy to suggestions that will help you get through your divorce with as little pain as possible. I hope I will never have to use it, but I'm sure glad to know it's there just in case.
