This teen-and-tween aimed sewing book was written by then twelve-and-thirteen year old Sara Trail. When looking for the age group, I thought the book was fine. In the greater realm of craft and sewing books, there are better books out there. The project instructions are not the clearest I’ve seen, though they aren’t bad. Similar projects can be found elsewhere, and there are probably better instructions for beginners in other books. However, because the audience is specifically teens and tweens, there are far more safety warnings than in the average sewing book, and that’s a good thing. I thought the diary entries on some of the pages felt very contrived, and it tried to hard to use “teen speak” and text lingo. Not a fantastic book for adults looking for projects, but it might get some teens into sewing. Special bonus: I own some of the cupcake fabric featured on the cover and in several of the projects, and I think I have one of the trim fabrics she uses as well.
