Most of the books I've read on the subject have been academic in nature, often written by lofty Biblical scholars. And their books make a lot of sense, but they do immediately affront certain things that would that would keep any traditionalist from reading them - and unfortunately, these are the very people who NEED to be reading them.
What makes this book stand out from the rest is Weekly's obvious love and respect for Scripture and his sturdy, yet easy to understand, sense of logic. To be honest, I thought that I had already heard every convincing argument for affirmative teaching before reading this book, but was surprised over and over again. It would move the hearts and minds of most conservative Christians, I have no doubt (that is, if they were to read it). But it also moved my heart and mind, after years of liberal learning about the Bible, and has pulled me back into an ardent and respectful study of the Scriptures.
This book is an offering of love and the pages seep with compassion. I strongly recommend it for anyone (gay or straight) who struggles with traditional teaching on homosexuality, and even for those who have slowly let go of an intimate reading of the Scriptures, having steeped themselves deeply in entirely academic studies of them.

Excellent research and lens shift on scriptures that have been used historically to damage so many.
