Resisting everything that she dislikes, from eating eggs to sitting in the back seat, a determined young miss makes a point of refusing every suggestion that is made to her until she is offered Grandma's cookies. Original.
I would not consider this terrible, and it does not take the cheap route of stereotyped gender roles so common in simple books, but not only does the cover not represent any line in the book (no dresses) but the main character said no for no apparent reason at just about anything, with no conviction nor agency, and then states she loves her grandmother solely because she got cookies and that was only after the parents she presumably felt antagonistic toward agreed first. I think 'shallow' is the best way to describe this book. The writing itself was not entertaining either.
The little girl in this book is super contrary. Her mom tells her to get up, she says "no way!" When mom insisted, she gets up. This goes on with mom and dad getting their way and the little girl doing what she is told, even though she isn't exactly happy about it. Then she visits grandma who lets her have a cookie when she asks for one - after mom and dad say it is okay.
This is the great way to show children They have to do things they don't want to sometimes, especially obeying their parents.
I enjoyed this book. It started out with a little girl's mom telling her daughter to wake up and she says "no way!". The father told his daughter that eggs were for breakfast and she said "no way!" to him too. She finally gets a taste of her own medicine when she wants to do the things she wants to do and her parents tell her #no way!" The girl finally gets to do what she wanted to do, which was go to grandma's house and eat cookies!!!
