The book not only teaches different colors but it also teaches about animals. When a questioned is asked about a certain animal. The color is place of that animal is shown on the following page. There are eight colors shown and it’s the only colors that the reader is exposed to. There are three different shades of blue, but it lacks other primary/ secondary colors such as white, black, gray, etc. Although the starting out age that most suggests being one to five years

I have literally read this book so many times, over the past few years, that I have lost count!

I can't believe I haven't reviewed it yet!

This is a great book to introduce colors.

Each page has a question, a color and then several objects that match the color.

For example.

What color is the flower? Open the flap. The word RED is in big black bold type.

Then this question is repeated on each flap. What other (name of color) objects can you find?

Then, around the question four objects are named. For R

Sturdy flaps, which is unusual and I liked the large photos. When reading, I was reminded of the potential for confusion brought up at an ALA talk this winter. The flower is predominantly red, but also yellow, and brown; the butterfly predominantly blue, but also brown. Wouldn't have thought twice about these possibly being confusing before going to that talk. Now, I would consider changing the text just slightly to "what colors are.."

Lift the flap book of colors. Talkers will enjoy telling you what color they see and what is pictured as well as what else they know that is that color. Nontalkers will enjoy the lift flap and be exposed to the colors for the first time or for reinforcement. Better for home ownership as lift flaps tend to wear easily with library use.

Ezra absolutely adores this book. The pages are large enough for her to flip on her own and each is bright and vibrantly coloured. There aren't too many words and each item is clearly indicated. Ezra enjoys trying to eat the bananas.

The way that some of these flaps open from the bottom they are hard to read in the laps of toddlers.
