He comes from a lineage of doctors: son of Joaquim Fuster i Pomar, director of the Pedralbes Sanatorium, grandson of Valentí Carulla i Margenat, doctor and rector of the University of Barcelona, and of Josep Fuster i Pomar, doctor of medicine, and brother of Joaquim Fuster i de Carulla, psychiatrist.
