In for a Penny

Rate this book
"I'M RESOLVED NEVER TO MARRY"Penelope Lacey declared stoutly to Sir Edward Marchmont--even though he was the object of her amorous girlhood fancies. All Hampshire knew that Pen was mad for the dashing aristocrat, but Marchmont seemed quite disinterested, choosing to call on those ladies closer to his station and more practiced in the social graces. Independent Penelope preferred a jolly hunt with her hounds to presiding over tea, a particularity that riled local dowagers, yet garnered her a tidy inheritance from an admiring aunt. Now she's an heiress and Ned rushes to propose--but is he only after her fortune? Pity poor Pen. She does not know that this young man, smitten and doubted, is about to go to the most unsuitable lengths to win her. And she will not be able to hear the love in his voice above the quickening pitter-patter of her own heart...
