Oh, how I’ve missed the epic world that is Parthalan… Full of rich characters, bad ass heroines (and heroes), a detailed world, and in Rise of the Deva’shi, the sweetest happily-ever-after I’ve ever read. Years ago, this series rekindled my love for fantasy, so it will always be very special to me.

Rise of the Deva’shi is my favorite installment of this book series, the Chronicles of Parthalan. It’s strong on romance, but also has an in-depth plot rich with magic and adventure that propels the st

I received Rise of the Deva'shi through GoodReads "First Reads". Thank you SO much Jennifer, and for signing it for me! *big grin*

I normally don't read this genre (Fantasy), which is exactly why I wanted to read it. (Now I know I should read it more often)

What a wonderful book!! I definitely enjoyed everything about it, I'd even give it more than 5 stars. It has everything you could want in one book - action, suspense, romance, etc., etc. The pace is great, as is the character development.

This book takes us into a wondrous world of fantasy and romance – demons, faeries, and a pair of fearless fighters travelling through space and time. It’s an ideal read for anyone who just wants to escape from dreary reality for a while and to start believing in fairy tales again.
At some points it tends to get a bit lengthy, but overall it’s a very lively tale full of deep feelings and good old-fashioned values like love and friendship and loyalty. The heroes, Latera and Aeolmar, are loveable ch

I regret the impulse that led me to buy this 513 page pricey paperback book. It had very few reviews, I took a chance, and can't believe I actually finished it.

The story itelf could be interesting if it was written in about 200 pages. Young princess whisked away from her homeland by sorcery and lands in Parthalan, the land of the fey. First a stablehand at an inn, she becomes the best of the best as a Demon Hunter during her six years in Parthalan. She also earns the devotion of the First Hunter

Rise of the Deva'shi is an epic fantasy romance written by Jennifer Allis Provost. I thoroughly enjoyed this story, from page one to last, and really hope that this isn't the end of the Chronicles of Parthalan. I am really interested in hearing the next story!

The released story before this is "Heir to the Sun", so if you haven't read it yet, I encourage you to check it out. Also an excellent book.

Rise of the Deva'shi tells the story of Latera a princess who is kidnapped to the realm of Faerie. She escapes her captors and starts her life anew as a humble horse groomer at a small village inn. One day Aeolmar the First Hunter of Parthalan comes through on a training exercise and asks for Latera to accompany him and his men to the forest so she can care for their horses while they train. During the training there is a demon ambush and Aeolmar is injured fairly badly. He is returned to camp u ...more

I am in love with this book. I have never read a book in the fantasy genre but Allis Provost has peaked my interest to try another book. I hope other fantasy books live up to this one. This book contained war, action, fictional history, superb character development, suspense, and passion. I very much felt for the characters in the situations they were put into. My favorite aspect of the book is way I was put into the position to witness the passionate relationship between the two main characters ...more

This book was great, and gradually went downhill. I love the mushy gushy romance, but by the one-hundred and fiftieth page of the same two people confessing their love for each other, even I start to feel sick and annoyed! The beginning was great! It was well paced, interesting, and I really enjoyed it. By the 40% through-it mark on my Kindle I wanted to shoot myself. When their was action it was well described and interesting. But mostly it was romance and mushy and more mushy. Finally I gave ...more

What an amazing ride this story gave me from beginning to end. I became fully engrossed in the plot and characters. Latera showed so much courage and strength despite all that she faced. Aeolmar was just perfect for her. The secondary characters were enjoyable as well. The world building was amazing. This author is very talented and I look forward to reading more of her work in the future. Another book for my keeper shelf.
