This tale was wild, for want of a better word. Really good characters, good and evil, so each time a chapter focuses on someone the book was still enjoyable. Good enough that you won't think about skimming just to finish. Y'all know what I'm talking about!!😁😁😁 Allison Hobbs is an..interesting writer. I'll definitely check out more of her works.
Dangerously In Love is easily one of the best urban fiction books I've ever read. I am officially excited ready to start reading every one of Allison Hobbs books. This was filled with non stop drama and almost everything was entirely realistic which is always a nice change from the norm. There are three main characters in this but others have sizable roles as well. Reed and Dayna Reynolds are a married couple on the outs. They never should have gotten married and only did so for their own selfish reasons. Dayna realized Reed had some problems but like most of women, thought she could mold him a bit to make him how she wanted and if that couldn't happen, she thought they were such that she could deal with. She had no idea the length of his mental and emotional problems. That comes later in the book. :) Chanella, a.k.a. Sensation, is a dancer who is foolishly dreaming of picking up a man in a strip club to take her out of the misery that is her life. She runs into numerous problems along this route. A side character by the name of Buttercup is a quirky addition to the story and she worked in real well in my opinion. The same goes for Ammon who comes in at the end although that ran a bit towards the expected. It's a 'don't miss' for sure!
This is the second book by Allison Hobbs that I have read. I was completely unsure of how to rate it. At times I considered giving it a one or two stars while at other times I was sure this book should get five stars. Eventually I decided that two stars would be most appropriate, as this book wasn't amazing or something I would recommend to others but it also wasn't horrible and had a lot of great qualities about it.
So, to say this book was intense would be an understatement. It was raw and real and that made it interesting. This is one of those books that you could read all at once, just because you need to know what happens next. However, it isn't one of those books that you can't put down because it's so good. I hated most of the characters, even the characters that I was supposed to like (the "good" guys) bothered me (except for the artist dude.. I liked him). I just think this book was a little over the top for me.
Allison Hobbs is a great author, and I might even read something by her again. But this book just didn't do it for me. Obviously other people might enjoy it, but I personally couldn't recommend it to anyone.
This book is one of the great classics by Allison Hobbs, showing she had it going on from the very start. There is never a boring moment with this author. Love her work.
A friend of mine gave me this, insisting that I will love it. It's just not my cup of tea. The erotic nature of the book isn't what bothered me; I felt the writing itself could have been stronger.
This book was sooooo good. Very easy to read with action from start to finish. I did feel like it was a little rushed at the end but overall a good read.
