A couple of takeaways from this pamphlet:

Therefore sin is not small, because it is not against a small Sovereign. The seriousness of an
insult rises with the dignity of the one insulted. The Creator of the universe is infinitely worthy of
respect and admiration and loyalty.

&

God made us to magnify his greatness—the way telescopes magnify stars. He created us to put his goodness and truth and beauty and wisdom and justice on display. The greatest display of God’s glory comes from deep delight in all that he is. This means that God gets the praise and we get the pleasure. God created us so that he is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in him.

“Therefore sin is not small, because it is not against a small Sovereign.”

“I have heard it said, “God didn’t die for frogs. So he was responding to our value as humans.” This turns grace on its head. We are worse off than frogs. They have not sinned. They have not rebelled and treated God with the contempt of being inconsequential in our lives. God did not have to die for frogs. They aren’t bad enough. We are. Our debt is so great only divine sacrifice can pay it.”

An excellent quick read for those who want to know what following Christ is all about...and a good reminder of those of us who already do exactly what our purpose in life should be. The reminder that, "We have all belittled the glory of God. How? By preferring other things above him. By our ingratitude, distrust, and disobedience", is timely and needed. Piper also says, "Coming home to God is where all deep and lasting satisfaction is found." This is SO true. Very uplifting and encouraging. Piper uses Scripture to back up everything he writes.

Quotes:

Is not then the suffering of Jesus Christ meant by God to show the world that there is no sin and
no evil too great that God, in Christ, cannot bring from it everlasting righteousness and joy?

The greatest display of God’s glory comes from deep delight in all that he is. This means that God gets the praise and we get the pleasure. God created us so that he is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in him.

What Jesus did on the cross 2000 years ago proved how much He loves us and how God cares for us that He offered His only son for us to be cleansed of our sins. If only everyone of us would believe that truth then the world would be a better place and all of us can have an eternal life.

But the reality is that, not all of us here believes in that. It takes a lot of courage and faith to believe and to appreciate what Jesus had done. Piper answered in this book these following questions:
1. Why Jesus have to die?
2. How can God love me?
3. What if I don't love God?
4. How can I love a God who allows so much evil?
5. Why is it all about God?
6. What does all this mean to me?
7. What should I do?

By reading this, you'll have a deeper understanding about God and his son Jesus.

This is a great little book for anyone who is trying to understand Christianity and Christ. It presents the gospel in a concise, easy to understand way and explains lots of questions unbelievers may have about God. This would be a great pamphlet to give to someone you may be witnessing to, or even for believers if you're having a hard time articulating different questions that arise in sharing Christ!

This tiny little booklet is one that, in my opinion, should be translated into every language. It's a short read but is saturated with gospel-centered truth. It is not too heady but balances the true joys found in seeking Christ both intellectually and emotionally.

Simple and to the point, this short book brings together some of the basic principles Piper uses in other materials as a quick biblical presentation of joy found in Christ through salvation. Not wordy. A great tool for anyone.

This is the closest thing to a “tract” that I would say I really like. A good, and brief, overview of the reality and necessity of the Gospel.
