Our days are full of secrets. Our nights are for seduction…
For the last year, I’ve wanted someone I can’t have.
The man my father built his latest multimillion dollar business with.
He’s a decade older than I am, and he’s entirely forbidden.
The fact that he’s never given me a second glance only makes me long for him more.
But the other night, across the room at a gala, everything changed. His broody gaze lingered on me and grew darker.
So I’m officially done being the good girl.
Tomorrow I turn 21. As a gift to myself, I plan to seduce my father’s business partner.
Happy birthday to me.

3.5 I-needed-more-forbidden stars

I’m on the fence with my rating… I wish we could do half stars… although it’s “forbidden”, it sure didn’t feel like it 😏. I’ll explain down below…

Harlow (20/21) has had a crush on her dad’s business partner Bridger (30/31) for years now. This books starts off with the prequel, The Crush, where we see the crush she has on him, the accident he takes her to the hospital from, the shirt text-messaging, and Harlow’s eventual departure to Paris.

This begins months later with Harlow coming back from Paris. At this point, Bridger isn’t dating anyone anymore and Harlow ended things with the French guy before coming back.

Now her father wants her working with him, which means she gets to see Bridger more 😅. Little by
Little, the tension rises, and then it becomes harder for Bridger to resist Harlow 👀 (because she does most of the pursuing).

What could possibly go wrong 😅.

What I liked: possible spoilers
—the tension 👀. Since it’s a slow burn, there are a lot of tense-filled scenes at the office and around town 👀 which I always appreciate

—the taboo aspect 😈. That desk didn’t see them coming 😅 pun-definitely intended 🤣. I would’ve liked to see more of this though 😏

—the 🔥. We don’t get too much, but I enjoyed what we DO get. Their first kiss happens at about 39%, he enjoys eating some cereal 🥵 at about 66% and then we get the complete 🔥 after 70% (so it’s slow burn).

—Bridger is all about her pleasure 👏🏻. Love me a man like this 😮‍💨. He prefers ensuring her pleasure (😉💦🥵) over his 💁🏻‍♀️. That’s the kind of H we all need 🤷🏻‍♀️

—you need no one 💁🏻‍♀️. I love how much of a backbone both Harlow and Bridger have 👏🏻

—dealing with alcoholism 🫶. It’s not detailed but it’s shown enough to let us know what it’s like living with an addict. My heart breaks for people who experience this ❤️

—the side characters 👀. I can’t wait to read their books. Hopefully I like The Tryst more 😅

—doing things for her mom ❤️. this got to me 😭

What I didn’t like/wanted more of:
—more taboo 😏. I wouldn’t have minded if they almost got caught more🤣

—Harlow doing most of the pursuing 😏. I prefer the Hs to be the ones after the h, and this was the opposite. She would try to be around him and would get upset when it had been too long. Yes, he notices her as well, but I wish he had been the one making more of the moves 🫣. Also, I’m not a big fan of h’s who “save” themselves for the H while he has no idea of her feelings, which he doesn’t. She doesn’t SAY she was saving herself, but it sure felt like it

—more 🔥. I just read LB’s recent MFM books, and hooooole f, those are 🥵. This was meh compared to those 🫣. We get one full 🔥 but the rest are short/FTB ish. The first 🔥 happens at over 70% 😏. We get time jumps and don’t see their physical connection enough

—her dad and all the cheating 😑. This was just so gross. So so so gross 🤢. I can tell her father loves his children (Harlow and her brother), but for the life of me, I couldn’t connect to him or find him redeemable! He’s CONSTANTLY cheating on his wives/fiancés/girlfriends!!! From the prequel til the end of the book, it’s nonstop. And, he makes Bridger lie for him 😐. Even when Harlow tries to talk to him about his problems, he brushes her off like she’s a pesky fly and then that’s that! He makes a big deal of Harlow and Bridger, yet he has no qualms in doing the opposite of what he preaches, and his actions are WAY worse 😑. He’s the epitome of a damn hypocrite 😒

—more on their HEA 😏. We get a quick wrap up, but I wanted more. Yes, there are epilogues/extended epilogues, but we don’t get enough of them acting like a normal couple 😏

Overall, I liked a lot of it, but it’s not my favorite LB

⚠️safety squad⚠️
-no cheating*/sharing/owd/omd
-the h’s dad continually cheats on his partners
-no necessarily owd but there is an ow who causes drama, but it’s really related to the h’s dad’s cheating/betrayals and retaliation
-alcoholic parent
-death of a parent recounted
-condoms
-virgin h/experienced H but not a manwhore/he got out of relationship before the h comes back to town
-HEA/epilogues/a week later/a little over a year later/extended epilogue years later

Feeling kind of meh about this one. The writing was fine I guess but maybe it was the setting that didn't excite me? Or how the story played out...I was okay with the age gap----21 and 30 doesn't seem that taboo, especially when the 21 year old is as mature as Harlow. And the drama about telling Harlow's father (and Bridger's producing partner) about their 'forbidden' relationship seemed overly dramatic--- not as if her father was this paragon of virtue---the guy was a serial cheater and had no room to judge. And as far as this relationship would end the partnership between Bridger and Harlow's father Ian? I say you're better off, Bridger. Its not like you'll be homeless----you're the brains behind that company and I'm sure you have millions to fall back on, you just start over. So suck it up and be with the woman you love.
I also would've liked a little more heat (on the page) between Bridger and Harlow but not sure that would've saved the story for me.
So not a total miss....I did manage to finish it although it took me way too long...but not my favorite by this author.

This was a fun age gap, dad's business partner romance. I had a fun time with it!

Normally I don't like when the girl does the pursuing. But this did it well for me because we saw how Briger was effected.

I've already read the Tryst and I'm excited for book 3.

The RSVP is book 1 of The Virgin Society series by author Lauren Blakely. It's a contemporary full length romance, dual POV with a HEA.

Tropes:
✔️ Virgin Heroine
✔️ Dad's business partner
✔️ Age gap

Harlow Granger has had a crush on her father’s business associate for a long time. As her 21st birth looms, she makes it her mission to seduce the gorgeous Bridger James, starting with an internship at their company.

Although he’s ten years her senior, Harlow knows exactly what she’s doing. Soon the two are not just spending time together at the office talking shop, they’re exchanging flirty texts, talking about art, culture, family and life.

With a connection that goes beyond attraction neither can resist the pull. But how long can they keep their forbidden relationship a secret without any consequences?

The RSVP was an appealing romance that had me anxious to know how Harlow and Bridger would be able to find their HEA. And every step towards it was steamy, fun and swoony.

I loved Harlow. She’s young but full of confidence, vibrant, bold and smart. Bridger saw all of these things in her and appreciated them and treasured her. How can you not fall for a hero who sees his partner as someone who makes him better, stronger and happy?

I really liked Harlow’s Virgin Society best friends Layla and Ethan and hope to read more about them soon. Overall, I really liked this age-gap forbidden story full of longing and steam with a dash of angst.

Ok, it HAS to be a it's me and not you thing.... :( Sorry but I was truly disappointed in this book.
I love this author but for some reason this book was slow and quite honestly way too slow moving..just didn't grab me, didn't give me the butterflies, the anticipation, ughhhh, it just was very lacking for me. The epilogue was my biggest disappointment. I thought about a dnf at one point but still kept going but for me...ughhhh just wasn't a hit for me sadly! Will I continue the series, honestly, not sure but will I continue with this author, yes. This was definitely a hiccup read for me!

Harlow: Seen as Daddy's little girl, but not really. She could not wait to get out of her father's house and uses her intelligence and motivation to succeed. She is mature beyond her years due to the things she has seen. But there is one bright spot that always has her heart flipping even if she knows it is just an inappropriate crush.

Bridger: Her father's business partner and a show producer who is a decade older than her. He is a good, reliable, intelligent businessman and a bit of an enigma. He is a sharp dresser who puts on appearances but does not really like parties, spectacles, and charades. He has always just seen her as his partner's daughter and was unaware of her crush.

As Harlow gets older she begins to wonder if maybe it is more than a girl crush, and just maybe she can inspire him to take an active interest in her. She has her goals set and a plan in place. And she is used to getting whatever she goes after. And at the same time, he is starting to see the more mature Harlow as an attractive woman that he actually enjoys being around.

A smart young woman with a seductive plan.
A guy trying to resist and keep things work-appropriate.
Chemistry and thoughts that just won’t quit.
Things could get a little bit complicated and heated.
But can they explore their wants and manage to keep it all secret?

This is a seductive, forbidden, small age-gap love story built layer by layer as Harlow initiates a plan to ensnare Bridger's attention. There is temptation, distraction, and sexual tension. But it is also a story of two people with common interests, mutual admiration, and attraction, but in a situation that could be seen as inappropriate and could also cause repercussions for his business and both of their lives.

I adored these two and enjoyed their small stolen moments. The want and need between them are undeniable, but it is a slow burn to get there. But I always felt like Harlow was mature enough and that they felt like a good match despite the situation. She is also on her own journey to figure out what she wants to do with her life. And she is hoping to experience as much as she can with Bridger along the way. Bridger is such a good, caring, protective guy, but he has a lot to lose. These two are passionate and just so good together. I loved seeing them be more vulnerable and finding their footing. But they have to deal with some challenges that could have major life implications.

There are some surprises and fun cameos from the LB universe. I liked her brother, Hunter, and her friends, Layla and Ethan. This is a start of a new series and it captured my attention with forbidden themes and strong, complex characters. I am looking forward to more books with the side characters.

The RSVP is the first book in Lauren Blakely's latest series, the Virgin Society. Her writing, as always, is on point, witty, and engaging. In RSVP, you will be introduced to Harlow Granger, a newly minted 21-year-old virgin and college graduate, who is wise beyond her years. She has been pining for her father's business partner, Bridger James, and makes it her mission to seduce him; to make him see that she is all grown up.

I do adore Lauren's work, but am personally not a fan of age gap stories, especially when the heroine is only 21. I do understand that Harlow is an adult, and if you love forbidden age gap story lines as many readers do, then I highly recommend this book.

I am always fascinated by the author's vast knowledge and thorough research on so many careers. In RSVP, Bridger, who is just about perfect, and Harlow's father, who is a slimy cantankerous curmudgeon, co-own a production company. I loved exploring this world and all that goes into selecting and developing scripts, seeking talent, peaking behind the scenes, and feeling the pressure and realities of the industry. I admired Bridger how business savvy and moral he was, and how he tried his best to resist Harlow. But the little temptress was not only sexy, she was smart and shared similar interests with Bridger such as their love of art, theater, and music. He genuinely enjoyed being with her and it was often very sweet.

This was a slow burn, which was necessary because of her age and his relationship with her father, and I did enjoy how they got to know each other as adults, and could truly feel their desire and longing. Bridger was so very charming, classy, and swoony, and the two of them together were explosive. He had admitted he never felt a connection in his past relationships, and when these two were together it just made me smile because they got along so well, in and out of the bedroom.

I admired Harlow's determination and how she was able to navigate and find the perfect career in the art world which was always her passion. She valued him, his work dilemma and his feelings, and did what she felt was right for the sake of their relationship. I also admired how she held her ground and told her father how she felt about his philandering ways.

Bridger put Harlow first as well and made a difficult decision regarding his own career, which turned out to be the best decision he ever made. Kudos to this author for crafting a couple who isn't afraid to put in the work to make their relationship a priority and defy the odds.

3/5 ⭐
2/5 🌶️

I'll preface this by saying that I normally love Lauren Blakely, but The RSVP just didn't do it for me like her books normally do. I liked it enough, and I'm not sure if I just wasn't in the right mood for it... but I didn't love the characters, the story felt very juvenile and corny at times and it was too slow of a burn for me (without the major angst to counteract it). The story was cute, and I really loved the epilogue, but this won't be one I re-read again like I would most of her stories.

I liked the bones of this story, how Harlow wanted to distance herself from her dad's business, how she stood up for herself and wasn't afraid to take charge. I also really liked the side characters Jules + Ethan and I'm interested in reading their stories. And Hunter too (again, their father sucks). I definitely won't be giving up on Lauren or even this series.

Age. Gap.

It's like catnip. And when it's by Lauren Blakely and has characters as great as Harlow and Bridger?

The book is like catnip with a side of extra catnip.

If you can't tell, I love a good age gap romance. I'd probably read an age gap were it set in a fake country. (If you know you know, LOL) Well, maybe. But that's not the point.

This book was just fun. The chemistry worked, the conflict worked, the concerns about the gap in their ages worked. It was all just good.

I enjoyed and recommend this title.

I just adore Lauren. Forbiden romances of age gap are my least faves but here ofcourse I have an exception. She wrote in a way that you want to read and never stop. And when it stops you want more and more....I have been listening to the perfect sedduction and really great storline. The life of her and her father is confusing... but she knows who she want. She see the mistakes she should not do. And he... just great combination

I can hardly put into words why I didn't love this book. I guess it's a typical it's me situation.

I love the author's work but it's been a while since I've read something from her. Her style got even better, more... lyrical?

The story was great and so well-thought-out, the magic is always in the little things and Harlow and Bridger have those.

Maybe it was Harlow being so mature about every single thing. She's a 21-year-old young woman, she could have added a little drama to their relationship, and her character wouldn't have been less likable. But she went after Bridger so methodically, not just in a fearless, but a quite businesslike way. I can't put my finger on what bothered me so much about that.
Their love story was sweet, if not a little mushy. And the big conflict was them telling Harlow's dad they are together? It happened out of their control and basically, that was that, like most of the end of this book, it somehow felt unfinished.

It's a great story, but somehow it didn't manage to really capture and keep my attention.

The RSVP doesn’t reinvent the wheel and I’m certain I’ll forget about it six months from now.

Regardless, if you’re looking for a book that does what it says on the tin (rich New Yorker goes after her father’s business partner who is 10 years her senior) this might scratch that itch.

The RSVP wasn’t as steamy as I would have liked/expected from reading the synopsis, but the storyline and characters were still well done so I got over it quick.

I’m just going to bullet point the highlights of my experience for you:

✔️ Harlow’s father made me all kinds of #twitchy and he pretty much just got away with whatever and I don’t understand why he was not just set on fire!
✔️ Lauren did an exceptional job with Harlow’s character. She was a girl on a mission with zero forethought, as one is at that age. I am ridiculously happy that Lauren wrote her in the true light of … young people who don’t understand the real world because they haven’t lived it yet! Well done!
✔️ I both loved and disliked (see first sentence of my review lol) that Lauren didn’t write a cliché storyline but rather a refreshing age-gap storyline with a friendship growth that morphs into more.

I am constantly being amazed at the versatility that Lauren shows in her writing that’s why she’s always been one of my go-to authors. Her stories may not always be what you expected or what you’re in the mood for etc, etc, but they are always very well written!

When Lauren Blakely decided to give us a little something more risqué, I knew I had to get my hands on it and The RSVP did not disappoint. Part swoony romance, part seduction with equal parts feels this book is a hidden gem amongst her over 100 titles!!

This book was like a beacon for me, it had so many of my favorite tropes!! When Harlow decides, she is going to seduce her dad's business partner she does it. And she does it well.

✔️ Office Romance
✔️Forbidden
✔️Age Gap
✔️Slightly Broody Hero
✔️Seduction

At first, I was not really feelings this book because Harlow seemed so naive, and Bridger wasn't. It wasn't long after those thoughts that Harlow proved to be a young woman going after what she wanted, and I couldn't blame her. At times she was naive but her growth from start to finish in this book was exceptional. Well above her years anyways after the life her father subjected her to, she was no young girl just going after someone for fun. She wanted Bridger James, and she was going to have him. I think we all find ourselves judging characters before we really know them, and I am glad I didn't do that this time.

Bridger James has worked side by side with Harlow's dad for years and he can't let this infatuation ruin his life and the career he has made. He didn't grow up the way she did, and he had to scramble through life to make it to where he is, but Harlow is consuming his thoughts and he can't seem to let her go. Does having Harlow mean he will lose everything he has worked for or will be able to keep the first woman who is slowly captivating his heart.

With lies, secrets and a seriously hot kitchen counter scene Lauren Blakely gave us a fun forbidden romance unlike anything I have read. Usually, the tension and angst in age gaps is what draws me to them but having one on the lighter side was seriously refreshing.

I had been anticipating this book for a long time. I haven’t read an age gap romance in a while, and I wasn’t disappointed. I will say this book felt slightly different to a classic LB novel but not in a bad way. It was slightly less romcom and a little more on the angst. I also got a slow burn feel to the storyline due to the taboo subject. But what I love the most about a LB book is her characters. These are people I could be friends with, which then makes it more authentic for me. Even the secondary characters are amazing, and will be getting their own books shortly. I also adored the combination of Harlow’s inexperience with Bridger’s vulnerability and anxiousness plus the way they supported each other was special. They bought out the best of each other. And I couldn’t not finish this without commenting on the covers. Both the kindle and paperback editions are sexy and stunning.

The RSVP is book one of The Virgin Society series. It’s a full-length contemporary romance. This book has dual pov which I loved. I love reading about what both Harlow and Bridger were thinking and feeling.

I loved Harlow’s personality. She is bold, smart, confident, and goes after what she wants. Bridger saw all these things and treasured her for her.

Harlow and Bridger had a unique relationship. I enjoyed the connection and passion between Harlow and Bridger in their relationship. I loved how Bridger stood up for Harlow when it meant the most.

I really liked Harlow’s Virgin Society friends Ethan and Layla, and hope to read more about them soon.

Overall I really enjoyed this book and recommend it!

I'm not sure how I feel about this book. All the books I've read so far from Lauren Blakely are on my favorites reads list. But this one? It didn't do it for me. I'm not sure what bothered me more, the fact that Harlow was only 21 to Bridger's 30 and acted so mature for her age, or the fact that her father was a real piece of work and they did everything in order to stop him from having a melt down. Which by the way he didn't have and I wanted him to so I would feel like there was a purpose for all the drama.

I didn't feel the connection between them. I'm in a really strange place so I'm blaming that on not loving this story. It was an OK read but I wasn't blown away. So this time around 3*.

Since I read the Tryst first, I wanted more from this. I'm not mad, I liked the characters, but the tension was lacking. The forbidden aspect annoyed me because the business part, was Harlow's own doing and the dad part...I mean...I don't know why anyone cared about lying to him or upsetting him. I did like the resolution and how they didn't mess around once they decided to go for it.

I won’t write a review, this book was utterly boring. And very much predictable. Only reason I’m giving it 2 stars is because the ending was cute, and the sex scenes were well written and perhaps that was the only thing not boring.

3.5🌟

screaming wheezing throwing up

Ehm… I really wanted to love this one, but sadly it didn’t meet my expectations. I usually enjoy Lauren Blakely’s books, but this one didn’t land the way her stories normally do. I liked it well enough, though maybe I just wasn’t in the right headspace for it.

The RSVP didn’t quite hit the mark for me. The age gap—Harlow at 21 and Bridger at 31—already felt off, especially with how overly mature she was written. And the subplot with her father? It kept teasing a meltdown that never came, making all the drama feel pointless and unresolved. The characters didn’t fully click for me, and the story leaned a bit juvenile and cheesy at times. The slow burn lacked the emotional payoff I was hoping for

I struggled with Harlow’s character. She started out with this bold, seductive energy, planning to reel Bridger in, but the moment he confessed his feelings, that entire vixen persona vanished like it never existed. The dynamic felt uneven. She came from a privileged, upper-class background with a gold spoon practically welded to her hand, while Bridger had to grind for everything he’s achieved. That imbalance, paired with a drama arc that felt unfair and undercooked, made it hard to connect. Sure, the banter and communication helped a little, but overall? The book just didn’t impress me.

Likewise, all credit to Vanessa Edwin and Joe Arden for saving this book. I was this close to DNF-ing, but the audiobook pulled me through. I’ve loved their work individually, but together, even without full duet format, they were dazzling.

Despite it all, I still want to give the rest of the series a shot. Layla—Harlow’s best friend—showed up often and was always there when Harlow needed someone to listen. The next book is hers, and even though this one didn’t drop any teaser about what she’s about to face, I’m still curious. So yeah, I’ll be running into The Tryst like it owes me answers. 💥🏃🏻‍♀️

This book is everything you'd expect it to be ... pretty formulaic. The drama comes from the fact that Bridger is Harlow's father's partner and older than her. Although this is marketed as an age gap romance, the gap isn't all that shocking ... about ten years. There's the drama of keeping the relationship a secret from Bridger's dad, but I don't really think that Lauren Blakely truly explained why they had to do this. They were both independent adults, free to form their own relationships. But if you are in the mood for a fairly generic contemporary romance, this one will do. I will say that I REALLY appreciated the fact that these two didn't have the sort of relationship blip that is common in these sorts of stories. They fell in love, trusted each other, and COMMUNICATED. Hallelujah! It made this story worth the listen. Vanessa Edwin and Joe Arden did a great job narrating. I'll give it three stars. I liked it well enough.

In the RSVP, we are here for the love story between 20/21 year old Harlow and her fathers business partner, and technically her boss who is 10 years her senior, Bridger.

Harlow has had a crush on Bridger for as long as she can remember. Right around her 21st birthday, she makes it her goal to seduce Bridger so she can finally have him notice her.

Once Harlow starts working for his company, they get closer and closer. They both know that any type of relationship between them would crash and burn, so Bridger holds out as long as he can before the chemistry between them overrides the forbidden nature of the relationship.

They keep their relationship a secret, but how long is that sustainable? Will they be able to come out in the open and be together, or will they forever be a dirty little secret?

Bridger and Harlow’s relationship was unique. Whenever I usually read a forbidden romance like this, there is so much angst and predictability, but I felt like the characters did the opposite of what I thought they would do and I loved that! I loved how Bridger stood up for Harlow when it meant the most.

Looking forward to the next two books in this series!

The RSVP by Lauren Blakely has been a brilliant and fun forbidden romance that took my breath away at times and giddy with excitement at other times. It was fun, it was spicy, and it was thrilling with the most intense forbidden fruit kind of way. Harlow sets her mind on seducing her father’s business associate when she turns 21 which may be fine and dandy but the fact that Bridger also being a decade her senior makes this endeavor even more exhilarating. Their relationship’s slow but adamant evolvement into something intoxicating and soulful was delicious to observe. I am hoping to read the rest of the Virgin Society’s adventures as soon as they’re available.
