For such a short book, Dorais et al were able to pack an incredible amount of information about a subject that is really hard to read about, so it must have been exceptionally hard to write about and more importantly, gather information about.
The wealth of Canadian statistics was welcome and definitely made it hit home for me. I like the authors approach to treating survivors of juvenile prostitution with care and compassion, rather than blaming the victim.
This book is not easy to read due to the subject matter, but it's informative in understanding and deconstructing the relationship between street gangs and juvenile prostitution. The kinds of girls who end up in these situations and how to help them are great assets. I also want to commend the authors in taking the time to look into the Johns who buy children for sex and what motivates them, as well as how to get young men from entering a gang.
Incredible book and very brave authors.

Fantastic book providing insight into gang-related prostitution/human trafficking. Although it is an academically published research, the book wasn't riddled with academic jargon. It is a book that is beneficial to academics and social workers alike as it provides research findings and presents practical best practices for interacting with survivors of gang-related prostitution.

This is a really interesting read! It sheds a light on the reasons for female prostitution as it relates to gangs. I highly recommend this book.
