This is the story of what it takes to be an assistant. Not first, but SECOND. Has God called you to help another, to hold up their arms as Aaron and Hur did for Moses? This call can be in any realm of service, not just an assistant pastor. It is the role of a servant. Directed toward assistant pastors, Romaine gives straightforward instruction on what God requires of believers in service. The reader will be challenged as the scripture is unfolded, and the truths are laid out.
If you think you are called to leadership, read this.
If you are serving in ministry, in any capacity, under any pastor, read this.
Especially if you are an assistant pastor or recently called to that powerfully used role in your fellowship.
Very brief, but wonderfully refreshing. By a pastor who faithfully served his sr pastor faithfully, and the body entrusted to their care, for most of his life.
Great for any Christian to get the picture about what it is to serve for the Lord! If you happen to be a Pastor, you have to read this book. Romaine was a straight shooter and this book is as plain as it comes on how to serve the Jesus! The greatest in the kingdom of God must be the servant of all, well this is a manual on how to get started at that.
That about sums up this striking short read. And the Lord knows I need His help with it! I recommend this little book highly. Romaine understands the servant heart of Jesus, and simply encourages folks to live in that same heart posture, offering Scripture as foundation and brief stories along the way.
Probably my favorite book, really blunt and solid in content. Short and quick and to the point. Anyone who wants to be in ministry I would strongly recommend this book.
