A bit funny that this book presents itself as "The World's Best-Loved Poems" and they are all English, as if it is not possible to find poems from other counties as much loved as these😀
Having said that, this collection truly contains exquisite poems, one just has to look at the list of poets, like for example Lord Byron, Yeats, Marvell and of course Shakespeare and many more.
Another funny thing is the concluding sentence on the backflap: "No home is complete without it." Amen to that😀

Has been an excellent companion. Each day, I read one poem aloud. A truly delightful experience. Now to find another anthology as pleasurable.

One of the best books I ever bought.
This book contains hundreds of famous poems and poetries by T.S. Eliot, William Shakespeare, Percy Bysshe Shelley, Wordsworth, WH Auden, WB Yeats, Christina Rossetti, Sir Walter Ralegh, and a lot more.

many good poems, yes, but it’s hard not to think “why is every other page Shakespeare?”

anyways “the love song of j alfred prufrock” is golden.

other criticisms: I know they’re all English poems but almost every poem is from pre-20th century and written by a man. like…other people wrote in English too you know.

A mediocre and predictable anthology. Unnecessary, too, since there are numerous better collections.
