This book is for people in much, MUCH more serious debt situations than I am. I can't vouch for the accuracy of any of the information as laws and things have changed since this book was written, but it's probably a good tool for people who are in massive debt to get started on fixing it. If you are just looking to mop up a little spill, you probably don't need to rip up the floorboards to clean it up. This book is the ripping up the floorboards method. If you're not considering bankruptcy or seriously in over your head, this book is not for you. Unfortunately, this book was not helpful at all for me.

My author comment is this, if you have massive debt should certainly have a meeting with an attorney. If you want to resolve your debt by negotiating, this is a really practical handbook on how to work with debt collectors. I recommend the path of honesty. Tell the collectors why you have so much debt. By the way, it does not have to be because of death, loss or work or illness. Poor money management skills qualify. Ask for help, yes, ask for help. Collectors want to help you with a solution that brings them something, not put you into bankruptcy. I have helped hundreds of people over the years and the secret to resolving your debt is always the same, be nice, be honest, ask for help. Good luck. Harvey
