Britain's financial hub -- the Wall St of the UK -- is a square mile in the heart of London known as the City of London. This district is full of stockbrokers, foreign exchange dealers, accountants and underwriters. How the City Works provides a picture of the City's mechanisms and its relationship with other financial centers around the globe. Written in accessible language, it covers the key roles within the City and explains how they relate to one another. This new edition examines the City's rise in recent years to a new position of strength in the world of finance.
its a very good beginners guide that is precise and well written. however as a general reader its incredibly dull sometimes, ocasionally when you forget how boring it is, it can get pretty interesting such as the attmept to explain derivatives which are so complex, mysterious yet mind boggling when revenues are discussed. its very hard to understand at times, where one has to read pages again to get the meaning whilst at others times tis futile to even comprehnd the rules and regulations which are not riveting reading. i may have to read this again to get what it means or i might just move on as its so boring but useful for anyone interested.
