Bayou Lullaby

It's soft and sleepy on the bayou tonight. As you listen closely, you can hear the great bullfrog, King Armand, crooning a lullaby. Alligators drift, herons doze and the tree frogs chorus fais dodo, fais dodo. This starry nightsong spins words from Cajun speech. Full-color acrylic illustrations.

The lullaby itself is ok.

The real champion here is the illustrations. The color pallet is amazing; subtle and cool and pure night. But the light and water play... I could feel, hear, and smell that water just as well as I could see it. So beautiful!

Four line rhyming stanzas make for a soothing lullaby, a great bedtime story. Dark backgrounds and rich colors form peaceful illustrations. I could read this picture book night after night and still find it fresh and enjoyable
