This is an excellent introduction to Christian spirituality or spiritual theology. Written from a Catholic perspective, it is yet catholic in history, scope, and sensitivity. Any follower of Jesus reading this book and pondering deeply the treatment of significant themes (the nature of Christian spirituality, Scripture, spiritual journey, asceticism, prayer, meditation and contemplation, solitude and community, friendship, and the eucharist) will find much to enrich faith and life, individual and corporate.
A favorite text on Christian spirituality. It explains the dynamics of the Christian spiritual life with a Catholic approach. Each theme contains a number of different spiritual giants' perspective and quotes. Excellent! Required reading for my students.
