Just who is Miss Fanny Draper?

Alexander, Viscount Malvers, is sure the beautiful girl on the public coach is not who she says she is. Her shabby clothing and claim of being a companion cannot hide the fact that she is quality. He's intrigued. This captivating miss is definitely running away, but from what—or whom?

Alex is adept at getting under her guard, but Lady Emma Lind

Loved it. Loved the setting it created in my mind, the fancy dialogue, the simple knowledge of that era. Too bad it's terribly unrealistic, but that's the point of certain books.

This book isn't awful, but it is pretty humdrum and ordinary. The plot is very predictable, but it was a pleasant sort of predictable, which meant that I didn't mind blowing an afternoon reading it. If you like masquerade stories or you're just dying to read another Regency trad, this one isn't terribly innovative, but it's cute at times.

The heroine, Emma Lindsay, is heiress to a fortune. Her stepfather has tons of gambling debts and cannot touch her money. However, he can marry her off to an ol

The storyline seemed promising, i liked the idea of a lady running away from an unwanted marriage. However, the writer didnt seem to develop that story in a way that benifited the book, him guessing form the start who she was, wheres the fun in that? the writting itself was wanting, it felt as if the words were just being recanted without any real emotion being put into them, sort of "he went here then went there and returned home..." you never realy get a feel for the characters and what they a ...more

I lost patience with this book half-way through it. It was going absolutely nowhere. We have Emma, alias Fanny Draper, who has runaway from her home in London at the encouragement of her mother because her stepfather arranged a marriage for her to a 50-year-old widower three times over. She rides in a carriage with Lord Alex, and the carriage ride takes not only three days, but three CHAPTERS to complete. When she finally does arrive at her destination, we discover that "it's a small world" in t ...more

The whole plot seemed stupid. She gets angry at Alex for finding out who she is and yet previously thought of about 70 stupid reasons not to tell him and not one good one. I feel like this wasnt even worth the time it took to read.

Born in Singapore to a Dutch-South African father and an English mother, Mary Nichols came to England when she was three and considers herself totally English. Her father, like many people who learn English as a second language, would have no sloppiness, either spoken or written, and Mary puts her love of the language down to him. He was also a great reader and there were always books in the house ...more
