This is a dense book, and it hits you right from the first chapters. I see that the hardcover versions of this are over 400 pages, so here it is pressed into half. The first chapters, and then the last, are the best as they contain the material I am after - the material on Religion and Naturalism, while all the meat in the middle is slow-paced reading on the current(in 1907) lay of the land in evolutionary theory - that is quite interesting in the respect to show how much variation there were and how they argued and worked out the theory at the time. I'm not sure how good an overview the book gives, as I know too little about it, but I got the impression that Otto was quite thorough. Religion does not get the same treatment. I think he has some other book that gives it that, although the concluding chapter is satisfactory to me. Solid book, for sure, but I get why time has forgotten about it - as the evolution is time-limited back and forths, and the religious material here is probably better stated elsewhere (Like in his "Idea of the Holy").
