Even though this book is over 50 years old, I still found it to be very interesting. However, I am of German descent and like the author I grew up in a town in Wisconsin that had a high percentage of German immigrants. I was familiar with many of the references and appreciated learning more about German culture. I don't think this book will be as interesting to those without German roots. Since a lot was focused on history, there wasn't too much that seemed out of date. It was funny for the author to mention Munich was preparing for the 1972 Olympics though.
