this is a fantastic book , my best friend Shreya has it and she gave it to me to read it .When I showed the book to my mom , she too like me felt that this is a fantastic book .She said she'll also bring it for me . there are many questions once you are a teenager and a "girl" . My mom always solve out my confusions , but sometimes she not able to . Now, I also have this book!and all my questions and confusions are solved out when I take it out from the shelf and read, even my sister reads it . After reading this, every girl feels so confident .
thanks Sarah for writing it :)

I am sorry but I did not find this book to be inclusive, despite the fact the illustrator drew some of the characters in the book with brown skin. One example is how the book suggested girls should wash their hair everyday. While this makes sense for me, a caucasian woman, this does not make sense for African-American women. If they washed their hair every day, it would fall out. A (white) friend of mine had a child with a black man. She ignorantly washed the babies’ hair everyday and it all fell out. She cried about her completely bald toddler. Inclusion is more than brown characters. Inclusion means you don’t just perpetuate cultural norms of some individuals. I purchased this book with the intent of placing it in the free lending library is a predominantly black neighborhood in downtown Orlando. Now what? Does the fact the book is informative on so many other topics outweigh the issues I mentioned? Sincerely, Frustrated in Orlando

It was (mostly) what I was looking for, to use with my kids. I dislike that it is so heteronormative.

I bought this book from our school fair on World Book Day Fest and I think that every 10+ year old girl should read this book. Thank you Sarah for writing this book because it describes what changes will happen to our body during puberty.

I bought this for my daughter, they have one for boys too. Its a great book for those tween questions about their bodies and whats happening. It covers everything from training bras to menstrual cycles, how to shave to how to shake off embarrassing experience. It's done in a cute way that I felt was appropriate for her age. It does not cover reproduction so look else where for that subject.

i'm typing a review out because maybe at least one parent will see this and get this for their daughter, that's how good this was.
when i was a little girl, i went book shopping with my uncle and we accidentally bought this without checking what it was about. boy was 11 year old me in for a surprise! i'm really glad i got this book because it taught me about puberty and growing up in such a light-hearted, comforting way. i think every little girl should read this because this book introduced me to the concept of puberty without any stigma. the sections where other girls' questions get answered made me feel like i was part of a community and helped me feel a lot more brave. it treated everything in a scientific manner but was also really kind about it. in my country, the concept of puberty is quite taboo, so this was a really fresh perspective for me. please get this for your kids!

A body/puberty book for girls, from 2008. It was probably ok 15 years ago.
It's a very white, heterosexual book. Some of the advice is specifically not great for girls of color. It also assumes that all girls will eventually become interested in boys. It also makes a joke (Mom, just wait until you turn 40!) that really irritated me, as my daughter's only 9, and I'm older than that. And I'm not alone.
I still had my girl read this because we had it, but I told her that I didn't think it was great or perfect, and pointed out the above flaws.
If you have this book, it's ok to use it, but I wouldn't seek it out.

Liked this, as a young girl I thought that this really helped me know everything. I haven’t started my period but have symptoms know that I know what they are. This helped me because I really feel a little uncomfortable taking to my mom and stuff about these topics. My mom said I shouldn’t feel uncomfortable but I do and I can’t help it. This book talk all about the things young girls need to know about there body and how to take care of things in life. I hope girls love this book as much as I did

I think I got this for Christmas in 2017? I must’ve read this around four times. It’s helpful and leaves no questions un answered. Not much to say but is perfect for a girl going through puberty. This can go for any age, depending on when they need this book. The images are really helpful aswell (They are just cartoons)

"Behind the scenes there are lots of changes at work. Boys testicles will start to produce sperm.
And their penis will start to get hard and point upwards from time to time...."
!!!!!!!!!
One of worst.
Don't get it for your child.
Why would she draw an illustration for male's genitals in a pinkish book?

This book is a great way to introduce your daughter about her body and what to expect as her body changes. Its a quick read for advance readers. It does have drawings of the female body parts. The best part is it has a section about boys.

Me dió ternura y nostalgia leerlo🫶🏼
