This was a Goodreads Giveaway First Reads for me.

I just received my copy today and I sat down and read it. But this is not the kind of book that you read all in one sitting. Once again, I am amazed and Branch's ability to "voyeuristically" peek into my mind and no my heart and my mind. Maybe it's just the universality of the
Christian experience. I was blessed to receive a previous book of Branch's in a giveway and now am doubly blessed as this book of poetry touches me even more. I would have to disagree with the description though as for someone just getting on the path, or the "neophyte" Christian; unless all Christians are neophyites as we begin each new day on our path. I've been "walking" with the Lord for over thirty years now and the poems in this book are just as touching, just as helpful as they would have been in the Fall of 1974; maybe even more so. Through those years I have had many "crucible" experiences. So I can read this and ask "Ahh yes, that's what THAT was about wasn't it Lord?" Do not be turned off by the poet's description of himself as a "voyeuristic poet". When I first read that I was a little skeptical but I think I understand even better with this second book what that means. Thanks again Branch

One of my favorite poems is about the poet and his dog. I won't give away the last line of the poem but it says everything about what the poem is about!

I won this on Goodreads. I thought this was a delightful collection of poems geared for New Christians. Some of the poems hit those sore points of frustration for Christians, old and new, and help point us back to where our thoughts should lie, in God alone. Some of my favorite poems are Trash and Treasure, Self Revelation, and Love Lost, and Three Year Tour, though not in that particular order.
