From Battle Scars to Beauty Marks

Nothing on earth communicates the truth of God's promise to see us through unspeakable places of darkness—or of his promise to sustain us through our stuttering steps of faith—like the testimonies of the faithful. From Battle Scars to Beauty Marks is a collection of gripping testimonies by seven faithful women. These are women whose life journeys have taken them through the valley of shadows, through the trials of transformation, and who have been found faithful, hopeful, and yes—even joyful. Delicately capturing the stories on the page and skillfully weaving them together, author and speaker Ellie Lofaro brings the gentle perspective of a wise counselor and the reassuring humor of a best friend. Ellie will guide you through the depths of a life-transforming expeirence—from the painful realities of suffering to the moments of profound clarity, divine irony, and at last, hope rising from the ashes.

Life testimonies of seven women, sharing their struggles and triumphs as Christians.

to quote :
No matter how much we may experience joy, there is always the realization of sorrow and heartache because we are not in "the garden."
....so we continue in this battleround knowing that-in the midst of wounds and brokenness, storms and sleeplessness, fear and sorrow -He wll work it all out for good.

I loved this book. It is my favorite book by Ellie Lofaro. Each woman went through terrible circumstances but clung to the Lord and loved Him. They served as an inspiration to me and an admonishment that I need to be closer to Jesus and love him more. The reader may identify with one woman's story over another and find experiences within their own life that compare. I learned the most for Maria's and Doris' story. I loved their joy in Jesus despite their suffering. The book convicted me to memorize more verses to get me through difficulties. I liked the part at the end where Ellie said if Jesus is near ask Him to come in. If Jesus is in you, ask Him to be your friend and guide. If He is your friend and guide, ask him to be your love. If he is your love, ask him to be everything he promised you in the Bible. I highly recommend this book.

A recent read. Tough subjects.
The book opens up subjects with significant detail but does not close them with nearly enough effort or skill as was used to open them.
