Hunting Truffles
Northern Italy is the cradle for a precious culinary gem, the white truffle of Piedmont, worth more than gold and sought after by chefs and foodies alike. But this year, the truffle hunters are in a panic as they discover that their usual harvest has been stolen literally from under their feet. Inexplicably, the bodies of murdered hunters turn up, but no truffles. A young man from Tuscany, in tow with his aunt and her restaurant crew, pursue the theft and the thieves through the hills of Piedmont and the wine and food of Italy.

This autumn I went to Tuscany and I was fascinated by the acres and acres of dense forest covering the hillsides - very different from the Spanish olive groves. I asked what went on there and was told that people hunted wild boar and also truffles. I wanted for find out more - and not from one the of the endless tourist guide books that popped up. I found this book by Dick Rosano and it did give me more of an insight into a couple of the regions of Italy and also the Italian culture and cuisine. However, it wasn't particularly well written and the plot was ... well, not very good. If you read this book do so to find out more about truffles and Italian cuisine!

Couldn't finish it
The narrative felt slow paced & dialogue long-winded resulting in a drag to the story rather than suspense. I've been trying for months to get into the the story but finally wrote it off. Life's too short.
