Blood Ties
Another psychic dream for Mara Johnson, but this time it’s not her usual nightmare. No murder. No serial killers. No, this time it’s a simple dream about a high school student named Lucy. Suddenly, in a moment of true terror, her dream is hijacked by a mysterious, horrifying figure screaming at her to protect young Lucy. Later, Mara discovers that her boyfriend, Adam, also had a psychic dream that very same night. A dream about a girl named Samantha being tortured and mutilated by a strange kidnapper. Even weirder, Samantha just so happens to be Lucy’s high school bully. Why are Mara and Adam having these strange dreams about two different, but connected, girls? Who is this woman who keeps tormenting Mara, haunting her every dream and thought? Will Mara be able to save Samantha? Or will Mara become the kidnapper’s next victim?

About the author
Becca C. Smith

The first book she ever read was The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, and she’s been looking for the door to Narnia ever since! She’s a passionate reader, consuming any mix of paranormal, mystery, thriller, sci-fi, or fantasy. So it’s no surprise that she writes in these genres as well. When Becca is not writing, she loves to sew, from cosplay to elaborate magical creature bags, she just loves to create!

I received a free ARC copy of this book in exchange for a fair, honest review.
If you are looking for a nice psychic mystery to keep you guessing until the very end, Becca C. Smith delivers. As an avid lover of figuring out the twists before the author reveals them, following Mara and her motley crew of other psychics including (spoiler alert: a friggin ghost) was a ride that demanded I finish in one day. I stayed up way past my bedtime to find out the true reason Mara and her boyfriend Adam were connected to a high school bully and victim in a town an hour or so away from them.
Without giving any spoilers, the author expertly weaves a story illustrating what happens when good people do bad things for the wrong reason and the reasons behind such actions. The finesse in which she tugged at my heart strings with an ending that brought me to tears was beyond masterful. I am anxiously awaiting book three because even though Mara solves the mystery, I gots questions that definitely need answers! I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a story that's fast paced, keeps them on their toes, explores complex things, leaves you with a sense of hope for the world and a splash (or mini tidal wave) of blood.

Can a bully really change their ways?
If you like me and you come to the review section to find out if this book is worth the read or not, I’m going to tell you it’s worth the read.
To understand this book, please go and read the first book in the series Dream Diaries.
If you’re into paranormal, mystery and detective work, adding in a ghost here in there, this book is for you.
We follow Mara and her boyfriend friend Adam who are able to meet up in their dreams which is pretty cool if you have to live apart like they have to. Reason being that Adam killed people in book 1.
Yep, and believe me, Mara’s parents aren't happy about it either.
Mara and Adam team up with Mara’s own bully Kimiko from high school to find a kidnapped girl who appeared in Adam and Mara’s dream.
That's all I'm giving away!
Blood ties kept me up at night, wanting to find out who the kidnapper is, why this ghost always shows up and what they all have to do with Raven, the FBI agent.
I follow Becca C. Smith on IG and YT and receive her newsletter so when she asked for Arc readers I jumped at the chance. I loved Dream Diaries and wanted to follow Mara’s story.
To keep being honest, I received this book for free in exchange for a fair and honest review which I have done!
I will be rereading both books because I enjoyed them.

Absolute fantastic read! A great sequel that gives the reader the resolutions to open ended questions left from the first book.
The subject matter is particularly difficult given that one of the main characters was convicted of murder. The plot follows the rest of the characters finding ways to forgive or look past his transgressions.
The gripping action of the ongoing dream sequences that lead to the main characters working with the police to solve another case, blends seamlessly into the murder mystery genre.
Becca C. Smith never disappoints. So glad the original story became a series!
