Greetings Dear Reader,

I was born an immortal prince on the realm of Thales. I lived the life of grandeur, revered and respected, but my one true love was fighting. I was given a special gift in my battle abilities and soon became known as Thales’ finest warrior. But all that changed the day my brother died and an evil descended upon my realm. With Thales on the verge of ru

I can't be bothered to blog about this book. But it's important to say that this book felt contrived in the worst way. It was as if the author realized she had a deadline when it was almost too late.

I couldn't be as generous with this one as I was the last, even though I'm still not sure if it was the audiobook narration, or the actual book that was.... kind of meh. For a 7 hour audiobook that I finished in a single day, it took me 4 days. Mostly because it was painful to listen to.

The next one I 'read' will not be the audiobook (I'll test it, but I doubt I'll be able to give it a full listen.)

Elle wasn't annoying, but oh my god her narration was HORRIBLE. I cannot believe someone at Tantor

The Shields in this book are Roderick, a Prince and Val a Roman General. Each of them has a secret past that they are hiding from and the reader will see how these secrets help the evil in His attempt to kill Elle and destroy the Shields. I love how the author weaves a story around each of them and quickly moves the story forward to enthrall the reader while slowly letting out tidbits about each of them.

I do love a female main character but E

This is one of Donna Grant's older series that she recently updated and re-released. I enjoyed the first book, but this one is my favorite so far. I love the characters in this one!

The Shield's are warriors brought together by the Fae from across time and the realms to protect Earth from an ever increasing evil that has destroyed other realms already. One destroyed realm sent forth a group of infants with knowledge to help other realms survive the evil and now the remaining five Shields are sea

1. Did Val and Roderick really spot a small mark on the inside of Elle's thigh from outside the store and across the freaking street? REALLY!?!?

2. Antony Ferguson's southern accent was beyond laughable, but at least he

3. ok the dialog in this story is just ridiculous. I may have to put this in the too stupid to finish pile......hmmmm let's see what happens in the next few chapters.

Nope I can't torture myself like this. Can't finish, moving on to something less annoying.

What a story. From beginning to end I was captivated and couldn't put this book down. A Kind of Magic held everything from a really fantastic storyline filled with adventure to steamy hot romance. What I truly enjoyed was how easily the story flowed. I love it when a reader can picture a story as if they were watching a movie on tv. This book delivers that. A strong 5 out of 5 rating from me. ...more

So much better than the first book in the Shields series, and can be read alone. Roderick of Thales and Valentinus of Rome travel to modern-day Houston to continue fighting the evil, this time taking the appearance of three harpies. There they meet Elle, another lost realm refuge who journeys back with them to medieval England. The romance between Roderick and Elle is much sweeter and believable, and Roderick's character is steadfast and Donna Grant-worthy. Very recommended. ...more

What happens when two medieval warriors travel to the future? Read this book. I really liked this book and I found myself loving Elle! She's a different kind of strong heroine. And how can you not like Roderick and Val? I want more of Val's back story but it was cool learning Roderick's. Can't wait for book 3!

This book contains some sexy times.

Got to the end of this book and couldn't even remember if they'd had sex. That's how good it was. It's like I read it and I couldn't even remember it. Hugh and Mina only ever came to mind. Oh, and Elle referring to Roderick's cock as a 'rod' was just plain weird. Do I dare read the next in the series? ...more

harpies, 3 of them controlled by a minion of an unknown evil beset an unsuspecting young woman. her best friend is killed, the evil minion was the best friend's liver and he wants the innocent and grieving young woman. fortunately, she's in love with the hero. all ends well for this installment. interesting if a bit nebulous on plot details... ...more

The grammar and spelling were much better than the first novel but the story and the main characters were underdeveloped and were way too cheesy, even for me! I likely won't continue with the next in the series :( ...more
