I read this book cover-to-cover for my initial neuroscience course for my medical degree. I found it concise and relevant, and covered the material to a perfect level of depth. It supplemented lecture material well, occasionally going into further detail.

Pros:
* good illustrations
* good organisation of content
* concise chapters that are easily digestible. Most chapters are only 6-15 pages, which can easily be read in a sitting with losing concentration.

Cons:
* lacking in detail for further studies
* coverage of cranial nerves is sufficient but could be improved, for example it didn't give an adequate amount of information regarding the course of the nerves

As a first year medical student in a degree with an integrated, thematic structure rather than being based on disciplines, this is the first book I have read from cover-to-cover. I found it very useful. However, I would recommend for more advanced medical students (i.e. clinical years) that this book would probably not contain sufficient detail, and should instead be used as a summary/review text.
