This was going pretty well, at least, well enough for a Menage Amour title. But then when the guys started treating their mate Elain like a child, I just couldn't stand it anymore. Here's an excerpt from the morning after their mating:
“Let’s go over some ground rules. You need to do what we say. Usually we’ll give you a say in the matter, but we get the final vote. There’s going to be times it doesn’t go your way, and you have to accept that.”
Elain is also told to start using more ladylike alternatives for swearing, or else she'll get spanked. She has to quit her job because the alpha says so. She'd better behave according to werewolf Code protocol, or she'll be "corrected" in public. If she wants something, she needs to ask all 3 men together so they can discuss it and decide for her.
Puke.
And she just goes along with. Starts saying "fudge" instead of "fuck."
Double puke.
Sorry, but this kind of dominant/submissive behavior, at least in this situation really makes my brains boil. One minute, Elain is a successful, independent young woman with a great career, and the next minute she's just rolling over and letting herself be treated like a naughty 12 year old with her parents. No thanks.
Typical paranormal erotic novella. Hot chick meets hot dudes and dudes know she's destined to be their mate because she smells right. Menage fun ensues and everyone magically falls in love because it's destiny, yo. I'm not going to read the other two books in the series, this was enough for me.
Three brothers who have to find 1 loan soulmate who doesn't know she's a shifter. Sounds corny, doesn't it? Ms. Dalton makes it interesting with her yummy alpha males who enjoy being doms. With three men focusing on just one woman, it's a heady, very heady experience. There is a bit of suspense and heartache. Still, this is a HEA with some good heat.
For the price of this book, I expected some length. It seemed shorter than even a lot of the free kindle books. Just tiny.
I hated that Elain MUST submit her will to theirs, even giving up her job etc. I realize that there is a second book in this series that deals with this issue, but this book is supposed to be able to stand alone and not resolving the issue seemed like a glaring omission. After reading this book, even if I'm a little curious how that gets resolved, I just won't waste my money. It sounds like the books should have been combined.
Dalton deals with the issue to a small degree by having the Prime alpha say she will be treated like a princess and usually get her way. We just see no evidence of it. We see evidence to the contrary. For example- if she doesn't want to rest after sex, she shouldn't have to rest. No means no, guys, even if it is about something like actual sleep. I adore strong male alpha characters, but that's just too far.
And why was she hurting so much after the mating anyway? That part was just odd. They really did something wrong.
Elain, herself, fell flat. I had no reason to like her. The character descriptions for her mates was a more involved, but all I really knew about her was that she had brown hair, TV reporter, and horny.
All in all, I found this book super disappointing.
When I originally read this series the 4th book was not out so in preparation to read books 4 and 5, I am doing a reread.
My thoughts are the same as they were when I originally read the book I enjoyed the story and am again looking forward to rereading book 2.
Original Read Feb 12/12 Triple trouble is a series of 3 books which could actually be just 1 book....the premise is that 3 alpha shifter wolves triplets look for their "One", their fated mate. And they find her...Elain their "One". Volume 1 is about the brothers pursuit of her and how they convince her that she is their mate.
I quite enjoyed this short story. Tymber Dalton always weaves a great erotic tale with hawt! sex scenes. The story although has been done before is kept fresh with her styling of the three brothers, which she wrote as individuals as well as a unit. This is what worked for me the most. So often with twins or triplets in erotica..they make the sibs too much the same. These brothers have definite and different personalities.
If you are a fan of menage books and would like a nice tale of m/m/m/f then I think you will find this an enjoyable book. A solid 3 star rating for me...and now on to read Storm Warning and see what the brothers are up to:)
This wasn’t a bad novella, but there were some parts that really bothered me. The romance was way too fast for one. I can forgive that part of the story though because of the paranormal elements. The heroes are shifters and have the ability to scent their perfect mate. In that regard you can ignore how quickly the romance develops and just go with it—-it is fiction after all.
What bothered me though is how controlling the men were. The first night they’re together Elain has to decide to spend the rest of her life with these men who are perfect strangers. Add to that, they order her to quit her job or they will walk away. Ain, the prime alpha, even punishes her for swearing, he wants her to speak more ladylike. They basically control everything she does and she must ask for permission to do anything, but then in the next breath they tell her how they’re going to spoil her rotten. There is even a part where Ain issues her an order and she literally loses her ability to disobey him. I like my happily ever afters, but becoming someone’s slave with no will of my own does not make a happily ever after, but maybe that’s just me.
Darn that was a quick read! What's there not to love about this book? Beautiful heroine finds not 1...or even 2, but 3 men destined to mate with her! Please don't forget that they are smokin' hot triplets and to hear them tell it, they were pretty much put on this earth to spoil her rotten. I'd say they are off to a pretty good start!

Book Description: Elain Pardie worked hard to become a TV news reporter. When a huge, black wolf-like dog with green eyes jumps into her news van, Elain has no idea her life will drastically change.
Aindreas, Brodey, and Cailean Lyall aren't just triplets--they're Alpha shape-shifters running a Florida cattle ranch. They've never found their One, the woman destined to be their mate. Until the day of the Arcadia Highland Games, when both Brodey and Cailean lock onto Her scent. Brodey shifts and gives chase, then goes home with Elain and confirms she is their One.
When Prime Alpha Aindreas mistakenly thinks Elain's already taken and refuses to use force to claim and mark her, Brodey and Cailean must resort to trickery to learn the truth about the wedding ring Elain wears and work to convince her that triple trouble could very easily put her into seventh heaven in their arms.
My Thoughts: The story and the passion was so-so. Brodey and Cailean were fairly likable. Aindreas was a domineering brute. Yes, I get it...shifter mates have to submit. But all the business of "submit" here "you can't do that" there (specifically use explicatives) and "you have to quit your job" grew bothersome. My inner feminist was rolling her eyes...often. This was a rather mundane shifter story. It settles into the "average" class. There was no climax to the story. No suspense. No thrill. Nothing. *Yawn*. They had sex in a barn in front of "dogs"...the end! Ok, not literally...they had more sex with her in a bed...then, the end. It really was that basic. 2.5 stars <--and that extra half is for the cover art and not the story.
This was an alright story. Elain, Ain, Brody and Cail were good characters but I had a bit of trouble getting in to their story. Might have been better if it was longer so there was more to get pulled in by.
Elain is at an event doing her reporter thing and at the same time Ain, Brody and Cail are there as well. Cain and Brody happen to smell Elain and are sure she's their mate so they go searching for her. Brody (who decided to go looking in wolf form) finds her and ends up getting taken home as a stray by Elain. He's with her for a day before she finds out who Brody belongs to and takes him home. Brody saw that Elain had on wedding rings but no man was in her home and nothing indicating she's even been dating someone, let alone was married to someone so he suspects she's not married. When Elain takes Brody home though, Ain sees her wedding rings and promptly decides she's off limits and refuses to talk about her further. This leads Brody and Cail to do some investigating on their own which reveals she's not married. They they just have to convince Ain to go after her and convince her to be with them (and also not tell the world about them). Well, lets just say that the 4some does end up together and starting their HEA.
Overall this was a nice story but I did have some trouble getting in to the story completely. I liked the characters and would have liked a bit more time to explore them and their connection.
* note - I listened to the audio version of this book and the narrator did an alright job but I think I would have preferred a different narrator.
I will preface this review by saying that I am not going to knock anyone's kink when it comes to erotica (with the exception of pedophilia). I get that the non-consent/reluctance genre gets some peoples rocks off, and as long as its in the safety of their own minds, that's O.K. That being said, This book did not do it for me. I guess what teed me off about this book is that the main protagonist's choice in terms of what she wanted to do was literally snatched from her. I get the appeal of being hot -to-trot for your mates and what not. But the fact that they told her that she wasn't able to hold on to her job, which she worked so hard for in the first case? And then the fact that Aindreas was telling Elain that her only options were to leave them or submit to their laws-laws which, by the way- he never sat her down to explain in depth? But the worse was when during the group mate claiming ceremony, they coerced her into having anal sex. She clearly was uncomfortable with the act, but because of their supposed laws, she had no choice but to give in? No. The whole time I was reading, I just felt sorry for Elaine. I stopped reading around 70%, when they were coercing her.

I absolutely loved this book! Won't lie, not much a plot line, but this author literally had me laughing out loud! The sass from Elaine and her snarky comments were absolutely perfect. I don't envision her to be exactly 27 given some of her immature temper tantrums, but she is def feisty! Love it! I was so heartbroken nearing the end, until I realized there are seriously 10 others in the series!!!!! Thank you Dalton for a fantastic new read for me, enticing my senses, and seriously breaking down a barrier I had built within myself from growing up in a very sheltered and conservative home.
This story wasn't what I expected. Her other books I've read, so far, weren't in the paranormal realm. But I've enjoyed her writing enough before that I chose this one at random without looking at the description, and though surprised I was in no way disappointed. Now onto the next hoping she stays with the same main characters, especially since we've met no one else, and have been given insights into the future.
Not quite the usual "mate" werewolf storyline. It wasn't met the 'mate what bam', she developed the interaction to the not quite predetermined quick conclusion.
Three triplet, Scottish, 235 year old, shifters, Alpha-wolves, hot, cattle ranchers find "Their One" in Elain, a local TV reporter. And they try to convince her to accept them as their mate.
All Elain has in her mind is some fun for the night, despite the fact that she doesn't usually do this type of thing....she feels compelled to submit and follow them.
She is shocked to find out who they really are and is made to make a quick decision....if you want us, you accept us as your mate forever. She drives away angry and upset only to turn around and make the commitment. She knows this is crazy but something inside of her wants this and knows it is the right thing for her.
There is a shifter ceremony at the midnight council meeting which is her being the center of the three's sexual attention while the council in their wolf form form a circle around them howling as they witness her acceptance of all three of them.
She wakes the following morning, confused, wondering what she got herself into and shocked that they expect her to quit her job and to accept the ground rules. This is where the story stops. I have to read book two to see where this is going. So far....so good!

3.75 out of 5. Triplets who are all Alphas, a young and aspiring TV newswoman, personal histories that are important but deeply hidden--lots of loving here when these three wolf-shifters find their One, their mate at a Renaissance Faire. After waiting over two centuries, they are more than willing to make her a part of their lives but she is not really sure she wants to give up a career for which she has worked very hard and where she is just beginning to see her hard work pay off. Yet she, too, feels the pull, the drawing toward these men and must make some critical decisions about her life. Lots of fun and hot loving in this paranormal menage. Good writing and the personalities of the three shifters are so well defined. Triplets though they may be, each is unique in demeanor and personality. This is book one in a series and while I suppose a reader could view them as stand alone novels, they really are best read in sequence. The stories do move forward sequentially. Just a very entertaining read.
I enjoyed reading Trouble Comes In Three, all about the Lyall brothers who are not only triplets but identical with An Prime, Gamma & Alpha. Andreas is the Prime, Cailean is the Gamma & Brodey is the Alpha they are identical with black hair and husky physiques only difference is their piercing eye color, green, grey & yellow. They live in Florida down in the Barren sections near Miami on a ranch. They have been looking for their One forever and today at the 1st Annual Arcadian Highland Games they finally have caught a whiff of her. Brodey decides o shift to try and find her before she leaves. When he catches up to her she's a TV Commentary & her name is Elain Pardee and he whimpers and cries to get her attention. She can't leave this big black dog by himself, so she brings him with her to the station. The author wrote a very interesting story, and the characters made the story come to life! So if you like to laugh, sigh, shake your head and cum up a storm then this is the book for you. I really enjoyed reading it, hope you do as well!
This is different book. If you are looking for paranormal erotica book, this might be right up your ally.
Three brothers are triplets and all are alphas. However, the one that was born first, is the "primary". They are also set to share a mate. When they stumble upon her, a reporter, the two younger brothers go a little nuts. They change and she finds them and thinks they are dogs. The oldest brother comes to collect his missing "dogs" and they are the seduction.
I do think that the story is a little silly and the alphas males are a little too, something. I understand she doesn't know or understand her world, but they talk to her like an idiot. That just didn't sit well with me.
It is a quick read. If you want lots of sex, with hot men, this may be the book for you. It just wasn't what I needed. I have nothing against ménage, but this just didn't feel right. Maybe it was the brother thing.

When Brody and Cailean Lyall catch the scent of their mate at the Highlander event they are attending, they know they must find her and quickly. After 200+ years their soul mate can't get away even if their prime and triplet Aindreas is nowhere to be found.
News Reporter Elain Pardie saw Aindreas while interviewing another and was immediatly intrigued but after Aindreas saw what looked like wedding rings on her finger, he walked away. Trouble brews when Brody and Cailean take matters into their own hands with their mate instead of letting Prime Aindreas make the decisions for the three.
This was pretty good, the only complaint I would have is that it was kind of rushed towards the end. I would have like to see them pursue her a bit more.
I love her books! Not sure I could do the whole 3 is better than one thing, but wow... Elain pulls it off, not quite as she may have wanted to but yeah. For me the begining was a bit rough, but got better as I read it and just adored all the characters. Imagaine three Alpha shifters! And its all about code and clan for Ain. I liked how he wanted not to "force" his mate, but in the end it really didnt matter. Elain poor girl tried to freak out, stomp and huff but she couldnt fight the calling or the itch :)She didnt easliy accept it, but as the prime alpha Ain laid it out then waited patiently. I loved Elain's tantrum, and more Ain's end result..winks It was a fun read I read it in a day. Enjoy.
What would have made Trouble Comes in Threes better? the characters needed chemistry
What was most disappointing about Tymber Dalton’s story? the lack of chemistry. the lack of action.
How could the performance have been better? the performance was fine based on what she had to work with in this book.
What character would you cut from Trouble Comes in Threes? all 4 primaries needed to be revamped
Any additional comments? The story was full of redundant language i.e. primed edict. there was no chemistry to speak of between the the mate and the triplets. the prime of alpha needed more strength. and confidence
At the start I thought Ain was an asshole and Elain was brash but once both actually started talking to each other there relationship develop really quickly. I'm only issue is Ain didn't want to force Elain but when they told her all she has to do is submit she didn't understand and they never explained it so when it came to claiming and she had anal sex for first time it was a struggle for her. Which is understandable. It work in end and everybody got HEA.
I didn't know what to expect with this one, but it was pretty good. I'm a huge Tymber Dalton fan and she never disappoints. The paranormal aspects and the relationship between the Alphas was different than I've read in the past, so that was a refreshing change of pace. And of course once things got steamy, it got blistering hot. If you are looking for some shifter smut with heroes that will make you melt and a heroine that you'll root for this is the perfect quickie for you.
I can't believe I listened to the whole thing. I picked this up because I liked the Suncoast Society Books so much, but it's no where in the same league. A fast, torturous romance (if you could call it romance), unlikable characters (the only likable one is Cailean), and an airhead heroine. Hey little lady if you mate with us we will love you forever and do anything to make you happy unless, you want to work or have any say in matters. Worth the time, no.
This was a great book. I loved the character of Elain and all the relationships between the three brothers. The sex was hot, though I would have liked more interaction between the men in the bedroom (it was rare for more than one to touch her at a time, and I like all the guys loving on her at once). Otherwise a good story and some fun characters.
