The BetterPhoto Guide to Exposure

Rate this book
Exposure. It’s essential to producing high-quality photographs, but mastering exposure is difficult. At last there’s a BetterPhoto guide to exposure, packed with BetterPhoto’s signature assignments, diagrams, tips, and illustrations. It’s like a full-scale photography course between the covers of the book–all taught the BetterPhoto way, just like photographers learn at the top photography-instruction site on the web. There’s plenty of information here on both digital and film photography, discussing how different file formats affect exposure, how to adjust digital files, color correction, combining digital exposures, and much more. The author’s stunning full-color photographs make this hardworking guide as inspiring as it is instructive.

This was a great book to brush up on some of my photography skills and learn a few new things. I would definitely recommend this book to any photographer who has a basic understanding of their camera and wants to learn manual mode and few other things about the technical side of photography - especially related to improving your exposures. I think it would help to have a basic idea of shutter, aperture, and other photography/camera terminology. The book does explain all of these, but it's a much easier concept to grasp if you are already a little bit familiar.

This is my book I authored and photographed. It has sold around the world and received great reviews from photo websites, magazines, as well as the general public. I hope you enjoy it too!

My second book on nature photography will be out this fall of 2011, and I'm just as excited for it to hit bookstores.

I think that this book is very geared towards landscape photography. As a beginner, I found it a bit confusing. However, I would recommend it if you are looking for an experienced landscape photographer's perspective on exposing photos properly.

Insightful, but the photos in it could be more inspiring, considering that you are getting good advice from the author. And it's always a letdown to find even just one typo (which I did) in a how-to book.
