This book has been on my shelf for at least 10 years, probably more like 20. I was putting it in the box to donate when I hesitated and decided to read it first. Good decision. Each section starts when the mother bear emerges from her winter den with two cubs in tow -- Brother and Sister. As they learn the skills they'll need to survive in the wild, young readers learn about bear biology.
Some info is dated (the Alaska brown bear is described very similarly to the grizzly, but at that time it was thought to be a different type of bear), but for the most part it's fine. Anthropomorphism is minimal.
The kids will like it.

Loved how informative it was about mama bears and cubs and their early life. Very nice find. Great illustrations as well.
