Sizzling chemistry and tender friendship develops between two childhood rivals in this hilarious rom-com from the author of As Seen on TV.

Jude Stark is the bane of Molly Blum's existence. The former neighbors and complete opposites began a rivalry in grade school that continued all the way through high school, consisting of fights, pranks, and generally one‑upping each other—until one over-the-top prank changed everything. A decade later, their siblings have forced them to collaborate on a surprise co‑wedding anniversary celebration for their parents, and soon Molly and Jude are reverting to their old tricks.

But eventually, a reluctant friendship develops…along with an unexpected spark of sexual tension. The two come to discover they have more in common than they thought, including continually dating doppelgängers of each other, raising the question why are they seeking in romantic partners what they claim to hate about each other. They finally give in to their growing feelings, but will that old competitive spirit take over, or will they finally realize being on the same team is a lot more fun?

I honestly a little dissatisfied with the entire execution after expecting so much before from the promising impression I got from the plot line. Enemies to lovers is my kryptonite. I can read anything written in this trope. Archenemies find themselves to collaborate for parents’ sake is also promising very entertaining outcome! I already read As Seen On Tv and I enjoyed the author’s heartwarming writing style. But these pros didn’t overweight the cons.
I couldn’t connect with Molly and Jude. They acted like five years old disguising in adult clothes. Their pranks are fruitless, not entertaining. They are enemies since grad school but it seems like they haven’t mentally aged for years, acting like immature, spoiled brats.
I didn’t see enough evolvement at their characters as well.
When rooting for main characters turns into impossible task, it also makes me skeptical about their blooming romance as well.
Idea of archenemies find themselves in a position to grow up and confront their feelings is interesting enough to give a chance to this book. The cover is also fantastic, getting your full attention but I neither like characters nor the entire execution.
Overall, I’m going with solid, mediocre, sweet-lighthearted three stars.
I still want to read more works of the author if they will be sweet and heartwarming like As Seen On TV. But unfortunately I didn’t like this book as much as I enjoyed the author’s previous book.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Forever ( Grand Central Publishing) for sharing this digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest opinions.

Molly (27) & Jude, along with their 2 siblings each, grew up together on the same street. Their parents are great friends and all the siblings get along, except for Molly and Jude who have been at odds since they were young. Now, 10 years later, they are planning a joint anniversary party for their parents. They are not thrilled about sharing the task of finding the venue and end up going back to their old ways and playing some pranks on each other.

Ugh with the pranking. It's fine~ish as kids, but when it's adults it comes off very immature. Didn't care for the prank that drove a wedge in their friendship back in high school or how it was handled when it was revealed in the present. I did not feel their chemistry and I was not rooting for them to live happily ever after at all. The only thing I liked about them was how they supported each other career wise.

Safe to say I didn't like either main character, but more so Molly since we only had her POV. Would I have felt differently if we had Jude's POV, too? Who knows. The way she responded when she learned some news at the party attested more to her immaturity. I did, however, enjoy her friendship with Esther. But then again I was bugged about Esther keeping a secret from her bff, that wasn't even that big of a whop.

Overall, as you can see I didn't love this one. It had a few fine bits and a great dog named, Yoggi, but mostly it was a miss for me.

*Thanks to the author, Forever Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC. I am voluntarily leaving my honest review*

I was able to listen to a copy as well.

Someone Just Like You by Meredith Schorr
Contemporary romance. Enemies to lovers.
Once toddler buddies, Jude and Molly have been enemies from childhood. Because their parents have been lifetime friends, Jude and Molly defaulted into a relationship of pranks and public arguments. Forced together by siblings to collaborate on planning a party for their parents, after a series of pranks and misdirection, they settle into a tentative agreement which takes them from careful friends to feverish lovers. Is a future for them in the cards or will old habits come back to have them go separate directions?

People enjoy pranks. They do entire television series with them. So others may enjoy reading the games in the first half of this book. It just wasn’t for me. And more than one on-again, off-again scenario makes me not want to invest emotions on the couple.
Stupid and childish pranks from childhood into adulthood. And secrets kept. And then more arguing. After the first few chapters of the one-upmanship, I skimmed the story until Jude and Molly entered the second phase of the their new relationship where they can’t keep their hands off each other. By their fighting and jabs continue. Not what I want in escapism romance.
There is a happy ending and an epilogue that shows it lasts.
2.5

Happiest of Pub Days to the truly talented Meredith Schorr. Someone Just Like You publishes today and it tells the story of Molly Blum and Jude Stark. While their parents are neighbors, and besties, Molly and Jude have held a long-term dislike (and prank war!) with each other. But their bitter rivalry comes to a head when they are unceremoniously forced to work together to throw a joint anniversary party for their parents…

Reasons I Love This Book:

*Back in the day and long before I was an author, I desperately wanted to start a review site called Brain Fog Books. Basically, I was going to review books (primarily romance, of course!) and scale it on 1-5 in terms of readability. In other words, and as a spoonie, how easy was this book to read on a bad day when I was dealing with brain fog? (If you have no idea what I’m talking about here, congrats—you’re likely not a spoonie. If you are a spoonie, and a reader, then you will understand what a big deal finding a book you can read on a bad day is!)

All of which to say, there is no higher compliment I can give a book (or an AUTHOR) than to tell you it is readable on my worst of days. It means that the prose is excellent, entertaining, to the point—without veering into spaces and places, names and characters, or unnecessary details, that can make the book confusing for those of us dealing with memory or processing problems. It is an honor I reserve for only a select few, including the likes of Debbie Macomber, Brenda Novak, Helen Hardt… to name a few. Meredith Schorr solidified that honor for me in this book, and it is also one of the many reasons that she became an autobuy author for me. So spoonies, GO AND CHECK HER OUT.

*Someone Just Like You gives all the joy. Have you ever just wanted to escape into a world where the problems are few, or even, borderline ridiculous? Where love and friendship abide, and where everyone you meet along the way, even when mistaken, has the best intentions at heart? Well, I sure as heck do, and thankfully, Meredith Schorr writes joy like she’s giving a master class on the topic! If you are looking for the perfect beach read (or a fiction book to sneak into shul during High Holiday services), you will not want to miss this one. Again, I keep comparing Meredith Schorr here to Debbie Macomber, but that’s really who I think of when I read her books.

*It’s a reform Jewish story! There are also some truly lovely Hanukkah scenes in here. And because it’s important that Jewish romance reflects the wide variety of Jewish life and experience… without upholding one version as less than, or better than, the other. ❤

*Meredith Schorr does so many things well. She’s got great banter, ridiculous elements that veer this book into romcom territory, Jewish characters, some steam and a whole lot of heart. There’s also a beautiful underlying message here about forgiveness… and what could be more human than that!

This book is perfect for:

Fans of Debbie Macomber, people who love the enemies-to-lovers tropes, people who are seeking a rom-com, spoonies looking for joy on a bad day, while sitting on the beach—a tequila sunrise in hand, and anyone who wants a romantic comedy that takes them out of the harsher realities of life! All of which to say, put this one on your TBR list.

Happy reading, ya’all!

My blurb: "With delightful banter and unexpected twists, swoony romantic antics and outrageous family drama, Meredith Schorr confirms her place on my bookshelves as an auto-buy author. Someone Like You is an enchanting tale about the power of forgiveness in forging our happy endings. I read it in one sitting."

I was really looking forward to reading this one, but unfortunately, I was disappointed. Someone Just Like You features a friends-to-enemies-to-lovers and an opposites-attract romance trope. Molly and Jude grew up together, as their families lived right near each other and did almost everything together. Like turned to loathing along the way, prompted by a lot of pranks, some funny and some nasty, and one with dire consequences. Molly and Jude are 27 but they both act much younger (teens?) with all the practical jokes and sniping. I just couldn’t get into them at all.

I appreciated the general Jewish representation, and all the local New York City color, but I briefly considered DNF’ing this one partway through. I’m glad I stuck with it because it definitely got better once the two of them stopped all the pranking nonsense.

Thank you to NetGalley and Forever for the opportunity to read an advance readers copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Big thanks to Grand Central Publishing, Meredith Schorr and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinions!

Honestly, IDK why I even finished this book. I had to FORCE myself through this one. It was just not for me... and I should of known better than to see an author that Helena Hunting gave her vote of approval to considering I HATED A Love Catastrope.

CRINGE. CRINGE. CRINGE. That's all I have to say about this one. Both the MCs are annoying as fuck with their childish pranks and the whole doppelganger plot point was super cheesy and unrealistic (shoot me for saying a romance is unrealistic but IDC because this one was off the charts STUPID). I felt this should have been a high school-level romance instead with all the teenage-level shit going on.

1.5-stars rounded up and that is being GENEROUS. Between the cringy dialogue, awful characters, the doppelgangers, that AWFUL poem (iykyk), and that epilogue - I will never get my time back from actually finishing this book.

*Pulls up Kindle notes to prove point*

SPOILERS BELOW - Read at your own risk!

"Cover your stump before you hump." "No glove, no love!"
WHO SAYS THIS??? WHO SAYS THIS? I can't. Should have just quit here...

"I bucked against his hand. 'Jude Star is making me come!'"
WHO YELLS THIS DURING SEX?!!!!! If I was him I would have gotten up, left and NEVER returned.

"I pulled him to me. 'I want you closer.' He reached under the pillow and flashed a wrapped condom. 'Abracadabra!' I snorted. 'And we didn't even need to leave a tooth.'"
Honestly they fucking deserve each other with this lame dialogue. If a man said Abracadabra to me when we were about to get it on I would have left him right then. DIVORCE, DUMPED, LEFT IN A HOTEL TO FEND FOR HIMSELF.

Last year I really enjoyed As Seen on TV by Meredith Schorr, and once again I'm charmed by her writing! But I didn't love the use of pranks in this enemies-to-lovers romance.

With the Blum family and Stark family being neighbours and incredibly close, Molly Blum and Jude Stark have known each other since childhood. Now as adults, the combined six children are planning an epic dual-anniversary party—Molly and Jude tasked with choosing the venue.

Like I said, there's pranks. Lots of pranks. Combined with the teasing between Molly and Jude, it was hard to find a genuine connection underneath the immaturity. I did think it was cute (and funny) that Molly and Jude had been subconsciously pining after each other for years—often dating their doppelgängers—but I never got a sense of where their love stemmed from.

Their relationship felt like the equivalent of a playground bully tormenting someone because they have a crush. I just ... didn't love it. Or understand it.

With that said, once the pranks toned down, I enjoyed the story a lot more. I especially felt for Molly. Her guilt-ridden secret was a conflict I couldn't wait to see play out. And her need to constantly follow a plan, struggling to colour outside the lines, was really relatable for me.

A good book overall, but I'm very hit-or-miss with pranks being used in an adult romance.

(heat level: a few open-door scenes, mild details)

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I wasn't going to review my own book because it's kind of weird, right? Is it weird? Well, I hope you'll forgive me for being weird then! This book is incredibly special to me for many reasons. The first is because I wrote it. Obviously. But another reason is because it was loosely inspired by my family and our neighbors across the street. I'm the youngest of three girls and we lived across the street from a family who also had three children and our parents were super close. I became best friends with the youngest daughter and even though they moved away when I was in 6th grade, we remained best friends and I was the maid of honor in her wedding! Although the character of Molly is not me, I imagined an alternate reality where my real-life best friend was actually a boy and instead of being best friends, we hated each other only to fall in love in our twenties. The characters were completely made up but, yeah, I wouldn't have been able to write this book had I not grown up the way I did, and writing the book was an incredibly nostalgic experience for me. I even dedicated it to that family who are like my own. My best friend is my sister from another mother, and I consider that other mother to be my second mother! It's truly a special friendship and I cherish it.

Some things to note if you decide to read it:

Molly and Jude are initially very immature by design. They are twenty-seven years old but when they get together, they revert back to their childhood selves. The same way I do when I'm with the people who have known me my entire life. We don't age around each other and we're definitely not on our best behavior. I make no apologies for this writing choice so you will either accept and enjoy it for what it is or you might hate it because you are very mature all the time and that's okay! I do hope you find it entertaining in a good way though.

You will need to suspend reality for the twist that's not really a twist because it's in the description. Molly and Jude date each other's doppelgangers and, yeah, perhaps that doesn't happen often, but neither do time loops, time travel, and fake dating. All of my books are a little over-the-top and many of you love me for it but some of you will just think I'm silly, which, fair.

I think that's it, but I reserve the right to edit this review or even delete it all together.

If you've read this far, thank you and I truly hope you'll enjoy Someone Just Like You!

First off? We need to talk about Esther. If she doesn’t bring the ultimate bff energy, then I don’t know who does. I loved their pranks, enemies to lovers and childhood almost second chance love story. This was a great read and I loved the family dynamics. I’ve read two great Meredith Schorr books now and I have a feeling she’s just warming up! She’s fantastic.

Meredith Schorr is my go-to rom com author because I'm guaranteed relatable characters, her hilarious, one-of-a-kind voice, and to be transported into a delectable romance with the perfect balance of steam and conflict. SOMEONE JUST LIKE YOU gave me all the feels. Hooked immediately by the irresistible premise, I was completely captivated from the first page, wanting to live in Molly and Jude's worlds forever. These enemies-turned-lovers had such clever banter that I smiled throughout the entire book, enthralled by their differences that created off-the-charts chemistry. With nostalgic pop culture references, gripping family drama, and to-die-for tension, SOMEONE JUST LIKE YOU is an absolutely outstanding read. It will also inspire you to live your best life.

I enjoyed this one even though I had a bit of a rough start with this book. Jude and Molly have known each other for their whole lives and are sworn enemies. They are put together on an assignment by their older siblings and immediately start pranking each other. The pranks felt more mean than funny to me but they eventually started acting like adults which made the book much more enjoyable. I do think that these two were great together once they stopped playing games.

I liked Jude and Molly and thought that they had fantastic chemistry together. They knew each other so well but there were still a lot of things that they had to learn about one another. I thought the fact that they have each spent the past few years dating people that were just like the other. There were several situations where it was very obvious just how much they cared about each other. Once they worked through a few things, I knew that these two would be great together.

I would recommend this book to others. Jude and Molly were both flawed characters that were perfect for each other in the end. I would not hesitate to read more of this author’s work in the future.

This book was so toxic. It was painful to read and I kept hoping it got better and there was something that redeemed the story and the characters. But nothing ever did.

I didn’t see how there was ever going to be a relationship between the two of them. They were horrible to each other. They bullied and harassed each other for 21 years!! How were they ever going to trust each other? There is no part of me that believes these two characters would last together.

I did not like the reason behind Jude ending his friendship with Molly as kids. He thought she was too perfect and had to bring her down a level? Really? He made her life hell for years and bullied her because he didn’t like that she was the perfect child? That’s disgusting.

Almost half of the book was them being together for a bit then breaking up because of their arguments and not being able to properly communicate. I agreed that Jude had a right to be upset with Molly when she came clean about the bike incident, but he took it too far. That in my opinion should've been the only breakup between them. The other ones were pointless and just added to the toxicity between them.

And then with the end they basically condone and accept their son bullying and mocking Esther/Jerry's daughter the way Jude did to Molly. You would think they would teach their kids to be kinder and not horrible to people

These two need to grow up—in more ways than one! If you're a fan of the love/hate trope, you’ve gotta check it out. We're talking enemies-to-friends-to-lovers and back again. These childish adults exchange insults like it's their job, and you know what? It works for them. The much anticipated next book from Meredith Schorr releases July 25th from Forever Publishing. Snag your copy and get ready to spend the day with romance spiked with unresolved childhood trauma!

I love Meredith Schorr's rom-coms and Someone Just Like You is her latest adorable offering! I had so much fun reading about Molly and Jude's rivalry. New York City provided a great backdrop and the supporting characters added to the enjoyment of this enemies-to-lovers delight.

Overall, it was a sweet and charming story throughout. Not only did I enjoy the romantic angle, but I also liked the focus on Molly's career. I really appreciated what she tried to do with helping others not end up in toxic work environments, and also how she tried to find what she truly wanted to do. I enjoyed all the Jewish references, as well. I could practically smell the latkes frying during the Hanukkah gathering.

All I can say is...don't read this in front of kids. I made the mistake of laughing out loud during a steamy part (there's a reason for it and you'll laugh too). My daughter kept asking me what was so funny and there was no way I was explaining that one!

It would have been nice to see this as a two-perspective story and also get Jude's point-of-view, but it was still great just through Molly's eyes.

This story has a lot of Beatles references and "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da" is mentioned a lot. It made me think of when I was in a song lyric contest on a cruise and this woman on my team didn't know the lyrics to it even though she was older than me. Thanks to the show Life Goes On, I had that song memorized!

Some fun coincidences: My late maternal grandmother's name was Mollie and her middle name was Esther. (Molly's best friend is named Esther.) Molly's grandmother Nani reminded me a lot of her. The anniversary party was held on the same date as my parents' anniversary. (Which is happening this weekend!) Jude has a nephew with the same name as my nephew.

Anyway, add this one to your fall TBR for a cozy and steamy read! It reminded me a lot of The Hating Game by Sally Thorne and fans of that novel will enjoy this one for sure! And if you haven't read Meredith's earlier novels by now, go do that right away! You're missing out otherwise.

Movie casting suggestions:
Jude: Nat Wolff
Esther: Anna Rezan
Michelle: Lauren Collins

I enjoy enemies to lovers-it’s one of my favorite tropes but this was too much! These were grown adults acting like 5 year olds and it got on my nerves so fast and for so much of the book I wanted to DNF. Instead I found myself skimming and telling them to “grow up” and “act your age for Pete’s sake!” Once they finally called a truce on their ridiculous behavior, the book took a turn for the better and I’m glad I stuck with it.
Molly and Jude’s family’s have been friends since before they were born. All their siblings get along with each other and their parents are best friends. But Molly and Jude are rivals and have spent their entire lives playing pranks on each other trying to top the other one. Including Molly playing a major one that changed Jude’s entire future, but she never admitted to it and it lives with her to this day. But now they are all planning a join anniversary celebration for both sets of parents and Molly and Jude have to work together without acting like the juveniles they typically do. In the process the finally realize that maybe there’s feelings underlying all the nonsense and once they discover that, the gloves come off and the condom goes on.
Ok. Fun moments once they got together.

Someone Just Like You is a contemporary romance/rom-com.

When I first saw this cover I could not figure out if there were two couples or if the cover featured the same couple. But after reading the book I actually find this cover so perfect!

The narrator is 27 year old Molly. She is a lawyer who now works as a recruiter. I really liked her. And I did end up really liking the romance. However I am one of the few people who doesn't love the enemies to lovers trope. And I really do not enjoy pranks and childish behavior. But once they started acting like adults I enjoyed this book so much more.

Molly and Jude end up having to organize something with their siblings. I liked how both families were super close. And the family drama added a lot to the story.

I really enjoyed the Jewish rep. Although I actually wanted more. I'm glad that we did get a bit more in the second half of the book.

Overall this was a quick read. Definitely read it if you love a good swoony romance filled with banter and a couple who can't stand each other!

Many of you know that my favorite genres to read are mystery and thriller novels, as well as historical fiction. However, every once in a while I need a change a pace, so I read a Romcom. Also, I read Romcoms from my favorite authors, like Meredith Schorr or Jean Meltzer.
No matter what your favorite genre is to read, please take a day or two off and read Someone Just Like You. You won’t regret it.

This RomCon is even better than Meredith Schorr’s last one.
It’s easy to read, well written, bittersweet in parts, funny (especially if you have siblings or close relatives/friends that you grew up with) and more.
It is an excellent story.

Congratulations, Meredith Schorr …
Happy Pub Day 🎉‼️

I highly recommend reading Meredith Schorr’s Someone Just Like You, today!

I purchased this book with my own funds. I was not compensated in any manner. The review is my own personal opinion.

Someone Just Like You by Meredith Schorr

This book had me laughing from the first time Jude calls Molly “Mole”.
Enemies since childhood, Jude and Molly are thrown together by their elder siblings to help find a venue for an anniversary party celebrating their respective set of parents. While Molly is the type-A-get-it-done kind of gal, she get’s flustered when Jude’s lackadaisical attitude and childhood pranks pick up again. Jude seems to have things fall into his lap and that is just not part of Molly’s plan.

I enjoyed this read so much. You know when you just want a feel-good book? Something that makes you laugh, has realistic expectations/scenes but also gives you a solid list of restaurants to hit up the next time you’re in Manhattan? Yeah, that’s this. And so much more. I loved the tension between Molly and Jude from the get-go. I loved the drive Molly has for her career and how she navigates her money-hungry misogynistic boss. It is such a satisfying feeling to have a feminist undertone in a book without it overriding the plot.

I loved these characters, the settings, the banter and the ups and downs. It felt like I was a bug on the wall the entire story, rooting for the characters to find happiness. The storyline felt true, the characters reacting in ways that their personality would dictate which was very refreshing from the typical rom-com clichés.

I would recommend this book to any and all that love a good laugh, endearing characters, and a realistic love story with a few spicy scenes sprinkled in.

Thank you NetGalley for access to this wonderful read.

Schorr delights again with her breezy, joyful prose, this time celebrating love-disguised-as-rivalry between two New Yorkers who can't seem to see eye to eye. One is a planner. One is more prone to spontaneity, But perhaps their differences can lend a relationship strength. The characters' history of dating people who resemble one another provides entertaining background, while 3 plot-lines braid together: Molly's struggles with a toxic work environment, her attempts to keep her parents' marriage going, and her growing realization that Jude might be the perfect guy for her. We also get a fabulous best friend and a few key cameos from an adorable dog. A swift, fun read, and a great fit for readers who enjoy rivalry as a love language, classic rom-com references, public declarations of love, caring but complicated families, learning how to diverge from the best laid plans when life doesn't pan out the way you thought it would, and a light hint of steam.

This was a really fun enemies to lovers romance featuring the grown children of two big Jewish families who have grown up next door to one another and come together to help plan a surprise wedding anniversary for both sets of parents.

Youngest siblings and childhood rivals, Molly and Jude get assigned the task of finding a venue for the party since both live in New York City. This forces them to spend time together for the first time in several years and ends up with them reviving their juvenile prank wars.

The line between love and hate is a thin one though and along the way Jude and Molly realize they may have been seeking each other out unknowingly all of their lives, leading to a hot night together and an almost too quick jump into a relationship that has rocky results.

I loved the cast of secondary characters, the pranks and the emotional depth in this story!! Jude and Molly had great chemistry and a shared history that helped make up for the somewhat insta-love plot twist. Both characters deal with personal issues and career changes which made for a well-rounded story in my opinion.

EXCELLENT on audio narrated by Justis Bolding and definitely recommended for fans of the author's last book (which while connected is also good as a standalone read). Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital copy in exchange for my honest review!

Jude and Molly’s families have been life-long neighbors and friends; however somewhere around the age of seven, Jude and Molly went from being best friends to enemies. Over the years, each tried to outdo the other with pranks that became increasingly devious the older they got. As adults, Jude and Molly rarely have the occasion to see one another until their older siblings plan a joint party for both families, pairing the youngest siblings for the task of finding a venue. As painful memories and old habits resurface, Molly also feels a strange attraction to Jude.

Someone Just Like You does enemies-to-lovers right! Schorr creates two characters that are meant to be, despite their differences and history. I will admit that I was contemplating a DNF around the 20% mark because I didn’t enjoy their cruel pranks. While they aren’t hurting one another, their joking is mean. However, just as I was thinking “enough already,” there is a solid turning point in Molly and Jude’s relationship. The author creates a lovely transition from enemies to friends to lovers, and the way they come together is perfect for this couple.

Another potential downfall for their relationship is a secret Molly has harbored since high school, one that altered Jude’s life permanently. This is another trope I don’t love, but once again, Schorr handles the entire situation perfectly. The author doesn’t let the horrible secret fester until the end of the book, but rather allows Molly to out herself midway through the story and then gives Jude the time he needs to process it and move forward. There is no “insta-fix,” but rather real thought and effort goes into forgiveness.

Despite their through-the-roof chemistry, the pair finds it hard to give up old habits when fighting, able to hurt each other with words even more now because they do love one another. I appreciate that the author allows the couple space to argue and figure out if they are meant to be. Molly does a lot of self-reflection about her life and career, about her family and her need to fix everything. Since the story is shared solely from Molly’s POV, I do miss out on knowing where Jude’s head is at and why he does what he does. But the absence of his POV makes his declarations all the more powerful, bringing me to tears when he breaks Molly’s heart and grinning when he surprises her with love. The addition of a doppelgänger fixation that lasts years without either Jude or Molly figuring it out is a brilliant tool used to show the MCs how each always sought out the other.

In the end, I thoroughly adored Someone Just Like You, despite its use of tropes I usually don’t enjoy. I’m glad I took a chance on Molly and Jude, and I highly recommend you do, too.

Such a fun read! Schorr has the perfect amount of wit and charm to make fans of the Rom-Com swoon. And let's not forget the 🔥 factor. A delightful read capturing the essence of family, enemies to friends to lovers, and forgiveness. TY to GETRED PR for an advance copy. All opinions are my own.

Honestly, this book did NOT do it for me. It very hard to pin point exactly why but I can tell you it read very young, immature, repetitive and the physical parts were just so boring and, if I'm being honest, so cringe (although not every love story has to be smutty, I just did not feel ANY of the connection during these parts!)

The book has a cute background with 6 siblings from 2 families that lived across the street from each other. The siblings (now grown up and living out of their parents homes) get together to plan and throw the parents a joint anniversary surprise party. I would have liked to have seen the story get to the point much faster. I found myself checking the progress of this book and being so bored and not wanting to continue.
I almost felt like there were two different plots.
First, of course was the love story unfolding between the two main characters, Jude and Molly. I was truly bored with the back and forth reminiscing of the old pranks pulled between Jude and Molly from years past while growing up. Also repeated throughout the book multiple times was the similarities in Jude exes and current girlfriend to Molly. Between the looks, height, job, etc. everyone reminded Molly how similar Jude's type was to her. And vice versa. Molly always dating baseball players or her current boyfriend and Jude having the exact same dog named after you guessed it, baseball players. It got old so quickly, like we have already discussed this, let's move on.

Secondly, Molly's parents enter the surprise party thinking they're going to dinner with just their three daughters and are completely blindsided by the party. Which would be fun and exciting under general surprise party terms, but the parents had actually separated and wanted to talk to their children face to face about it. As many children of loving families, this separation causes some heartbreak. I thought the level of upset was not needed. Molly doing small things like locking her parents in the basement at Thanksgiving to try and get them back together felt so childish to me and nd not productive at all. Not that anyone experiencing their parents going through a divorce should just get over it, but I couldn't understand why it was something brought up so often in this book.

I don't know, maybe I'm being too harsh but truly this just did not hit the spot.
Oh, they also called sex "get it done". Like what? Why?

I adored this book! It's so witty and swoony. The chemistry between the leads is electric, and the way playing pranks turns them into kids around each other is so fun and charming. The dating doppelgängers hook is so clever and unfolds with such humor. If you love childhood rivals to lovers, banter, NYC, and goldendoodles, this book is for you!

The set up of the book felt contrived and forced. But on plus side it was well-paced, and at times sweet. I wanted to like this book, but it was a total miss for me.

3.5 stars rounded up!

This was more of a like than a love for me. I was initially attracted to this book because the front cover is adorable! I do love the enemies to lovers trope, but I didn’t really feel the chemistry between Jude and Molly. The felt a little immature to me, and the conflict kind of dragged out.

Overall it was an easy romcom read, and I would be interested in reading more from this author.

I have never read this author before and I don't think this was a good place to start.

Jude Stark and Molly Blum are the same age, 27, but act much younger. They know each other very well as their two families have lived across from each other all throughout their childhood. (and the parents still do.) Molly calls Jude "the bane of my existence growing up." I actually don't know if they have really grown up. There are too many pranks and juvenile acts. Childish. I really didn't see the love connection between them.

Once the pranks stopped and they realized they were secretly pining for the other-dating others like them-the book was more enjoyable.

Molly and Jude have been rivals since they were children. Their families have been lifelong friends and neighbors.

The siblings of both families have decided to throw their parents an anniversary party. This means Molly has to see Jude more times than she would prefer. She has been assigned the duty of finding the perfect venue for the party with Jude.

Cue the pranks and banter between them. I absolutely loved the back-and-forth pranks. Jude’s attitude and comments throughout the book made me laugh out loud many times. You could see that they both had some hidden feelings for one another.

This is a perfect enemies-to-lovers story with adorable dogs! You can’t go wrong with that!
