Lewis Byford Patten was a prolific author of American Western Novels, born in Denver, Colorado. Often published under the names Lewis Ford, Len Leighto and, Joseph Wayne.
Patten is one of my favorite western writers. However this one wasnt one of his best. It's an ok revenge story, the main character is fine though and there are segments that are well written. Actually the writing is solid, in typical Patten style. The romance plot is a little forced and its a fair amount of the book. Does seem to drag a bit and its the romance subplot that does most of the dragging.
In this story Logan spent 15 years in jail for killing his faithless wife, though he actually was innocent. Coming back to town he wants to clear his name and find out who actually killed her. However while doing this, another man is killed and Logan is accused of the murder and he finds himself on the run, being accused again for a murder he didnt commit. Though he still plans on getting his revenge and clearing his name.
Cant really recommend, again it's fine but Patten has so many better novels that this one pales in comparison.
