The underlying message of this book is that no matter how much money you don't have, you can create your own satisfactory wedding experience. To accomplish this you make a list of the wedding features that are important or not to you (time of day, live music, fancy dress, etc), and shop for vendors based on your actual budget and your desires, not someone else's expectations of what is "wedding".

Sure the book was written before the internets, but if you're under 50 you know enough about the internets yourself to discover options for websites, photo hosting, electronic RSVPs, etc with some help from your friend Google. The principles expressed in this book, using your own judgment and having the tenacity to dig up vendors with your style and price point, are even more helpful and important with the explosion of vendor exposure in this the age of internets.

This book helped me relax and enjoy planning my wedding.

This book is aimed at "mature brides" - apparently this means over the age of 26 - and the message of this book is "it's OK to do what you want". A gift from my friend T. We got some interesting ideas from this but to be honest it is a little outdated in terms of research and communication. (It's pre-internet, and it shows: one suggestion is to hire a secretary from an agency to compile our wedding guest list from our Rolodex. NO REALLY.)
