Chateau in Provence

After years of estrangement, Miranda had been dubious about accepting the invitation of her French grandmother to visit her at her home in Provence, and she set out rather reluctantly. She might not have been so reluctant had she known she would be offered a dazzling career as a dress designer, and that she would meet two attractive men as well. At least, Pierre Chambray was attractive; Miranda wasn't so sure about Alain Maury.

I enjoyed this story of an English fashion designer who goes to a Provencal chateau to mend fences with her grandmother and becomes involved with a perfume designer. The MFC was for the most part intelligent, gutsy and resolute, although clueless when it came to her sleazy, grasping cousin. Stars taken off for (1) the cousin getting away with his despicable actions because the MMC won't let the truth of his ex-fiancee's death be known, (2) the MMC's use of violent kisses and hair pulling, (3) the MMC's mother not eating a little humble pie after the MFC's decision involving the perfume marketing, and (4) no smackdown for the OW. And as always with these old Harlequins, the romance between the main characters is almost non-existent (he gives her no indication that he's in love with her), the ILYs are disappointingly left to the 2nd-to-last page, and the ending is abrupt.
