Heartland is a horse farm nestled in the hills of Virginia, but it's much more than that. Heartland is like no other place - it's a place where the scars of the past can be healed, a place where frightened and abused horses learn to trust again.
Amy has never had such a difficult time reaching a horse. Since the first day Gallant Prince arrived at Heartland, he's stayed at the back of his stall, pacing anxiously. Amy knows the fear of the stable fire blazes behind Prince's threats, his bared teeth and haunted eyes. But she doesn't know how she can help a horse that has taken refuge so deep within itself. Amy can't face the fact that even she might not be able to lead Prince out of his darkness.
Lauren Brooke grew up in a ranch in Virginia and now lives in Leicestershire, England. Her husband is a veterinarian who specializes in horses. Her books have been published by Scholastic since Mid-2000, starting with the first book of the Heartland book series. The first book of her popular Chestnut Hill series was published in 2005.
According to an interview on scholastics' website, Lauren Brooke has been riding since before she could walk. She also said she competes in a few local-level horse shows and events.
There may be some other people in books and movies named Lauren Brooke: Amazon lists the author of "Book of spiritual regeneration" (1995) as Lauren Brooke. IMDB.com has a record for an Actress named Lauren Brooke. Her only movie is "Wiseguys vs. Zombies" (2003) as Goat Man's Wife.
This one was a pretty emotional tense read. I haven't read one of these books for basically 7 months now, and I loved getting back into the world. It was definitely a spur-of-the-moment read, as I saw it on my shelf and it counted for 3 different challenges. Super pleased about that! I found that myself, like Amy, was One thing that surprised me was But I love Mr Hartley for I'll be continuing on with the series eventually. I'll even watch the tv series after I finish the books.
Love this book! It’s very on edge and reels you in the moment it starts. I think it to be more intense than some of the others. I totally recommend this book and the series!
The series is written for a younger audience but I really like to read them as an adult because I am a huge fan of the tv show.
In this book a new and very expensive horse arrives at Heartland. Gallant Prince is an ex-galopp-racinghorse which got traumatised in a stable fire. None of Amy's methods seems to work for the aggressive and anxious stallion. So Amy tries to contact the previous groom of Prince to help her. At the same time Amy has to face the fact that Daybreak and Melody are ready to get rehomed.
I read Heartland with my best friend from middle school...we aren't really friends now more like kind strangers. It's odd how we as book lovers attach emotions from our life at the time we read certain things....anyway I adore the heartland series!!! All of them! And in case you were wondering the TV series is pretty good too <3
Heartland are some of my favorite books because they. have to do a lot about some of my favorite things I do, like I also ride horses and I am not FAN of reading and I do enjoy reading theses books.
Another great storyline in the Heartland series! I remember watching this episode with Prince and Amy reaching out to his old handler who was in the barn fire with him. The episode was emotional and the book was just as heartwarming!
In this one we see Amy continue to work her magic with the horses that need her help. Prince was a challenge for her, and her decision to reach out to Ryan to work with and comfort Prince did the trick. It was sweet seeing how both Prince and Ryan both needed each other to overcome the trauma of the barn fire. They both helped pull each other out of the darkness and it was great to see them both recover.
Loved seeing Amy and Ty continue to be a power team while working with the horses. The romance between them is still trying to make its way through, but Amy is still hesitant to take that leap, afraid that it could change their friendship if it didn't work out.
This was a story of strength, overcoming fear, and taking chances. Apart from the Prince storyline there was a beautiful moment of Melody and Daybreak finding their forever home. Amy is rightfully so attached to Daybreak, so it was nice to see her let her go for the better, knowing that if she leaves she can help another horse in her place.
Another wonderful book with heartwarming storylines and lots of emotion.
Another great Heartland book! A horse named Gallant Prince arrives at Heartland very damaged. After a fire that had happen, he doesn't seem to be able to trust people. Amy believes that the only person who could help him is his old trainer, Ryan.
However, Ryan feels that he would be the last person that can help Prince. Amy keeps on trying to persuade Ryan to come see Prince and in the end, he does.
Amy is also struggling with the fact that Melody and her foal, Daybreak. Amy has really fallen in love with Daybreak and doesn't want to see her go. The family find a new owner named Jess for the two, and Amy is able to let them go.
This one is one of the more emotional ones, in terms of changing character relationships/friendships, with Amy and Ty/Amy and Matt. There's also old horses getting new homes, and the main part of the book in dealing with Gallant Prince and Ryan. It's nice to see that Prince is a former racehorse, which makes things a bit different from the normal horses Heartland treats and the things that have happened to him and Ryan to being them to where are in this book. Another good book in the series and I'm looking forward to the next couple of books, which are always emotional yet some of my favourite to re-read.
I like the horse they are working with on this one and how the horse's old stable hand plays a part. I don't love how Ty and Amy avoid things in this one or the conflict around Daybreak. The author also says a thing that happened last book happened at a different time than it did. It's not a huge deal or a big mistake, but it's just a little irksome. I would expect the author to know what she has written previously a bit better.
I really enjoyed the story and message in this book. Again I don’t think there is a book in this series that I won’t give five stars. Lauren Brooke does an amazing job telling the story of how healing horses can also heal your own heart. I believe like Amy you can learn something from the horses you heal.
This book focuses on Gallant Prince, a deeply troubled horse. Amy is trying her best to get him to come out of himself and learned to trust. Gallant Prince is borderline dangerous, and Amy is not sure enough of her skills to know she can help him. Amy is really growing into a real horsewoman throughout this series. Love to see it.
again!!! the story just keeps getting better and better even with the less descriptive middle grade writing style. the story and the themes make up for it. the whole “being able to free yourself from the past and move on from the darkness into the light” really stuck with me and i almost couldnt stop myself from reading this one!
I couldn't help but get a bit frustrated with this book, it was all 'racehorses are highly strung' and it's like; Amy, you're a horse trainer, get on with it!! But other than that, it was pretty good!

For a childrens book it's excellent. Took me back to my childhood to the first time I read a book in this series. Even now it was surprisingly still interesting
