When a massive interstate pileup brings chaos to a suburban Seattle hospital, patient-relations manager Robyn Kelly dives into the fray. Later she learns that one of the injured, Congressman Jake Hamilton, has logged a personal complaint against her after she politely refused to put his needs before those of the more seriously hurt. Her career on the line, she visits the congressman's room- and finds him murdered in his bed.
Incriminated and worried, Robyn starts digging into Hamilton's life and discovers that behind his handsome facade was a ruthless, vicious bully with many enemies. Dodging the media frenzy and the lead detective proves tough, especially when she begins to suspect the killer is someone at the hospital - someone hiding in plain sight, ready to murder again to conceal a deadly masquerade.

This story is about a Patient Care Manager in Seattle, Washington. When there is a automobile pile up on the interstate and her hospital is inundated with patients, one of the patients, Jake Hamilton, a Congressman, complains about her treatment of him when she is helping the ER nurse tag patients. When she goes to talk to the Congressman, she finds him dead. How she helps the police and discovers the real killer makes for a great story. I really enjoyed this one.
The plot twist in this book could have been so much better is they actually affected the story line. It was so touch and go. I liked the premise of the book but it just turned to mush at the end. And it was wrapped up in 2 pages.
I enjoyed this mystery, set in the Seattle area, since I live nearby myself. I found the characters believable. I was also able to guess who the murderer was, though not the complete motive for the crime.
When a multi-car pileup occurs on Snoqualmie Pass, some of the injured are sent to the small hospital where Robyn Kelly works as the Patient Relations Manager, including Congressman Jake Hamilton. When he files a complaint against her, Robyn is worried — but nearly as worried as when she discovers his dead body! To clear her own name, and the police's prime suspect, Robyn launches her own investigation, putting herself in mortal danger.
