I am currently half through this and i have to say, ad illustration student with a fascination with landscapes and struggling to go past the beginner level with watercolor, this book was one huge help. The explenations are clear, the writing voice companionable in walking through a painterly experience with familiarity and love for the subject, the exercises are useful in help you to gradually master new skills.

This is one of DB's earlier books and is far superior to his latest one's, the book is full of guidance tips instruction and is well illustrated. Each chapter contains exercises for those that wish to follow a classroom approach. Each exercise has an example in the gallery of how he has painted it. Excellent book I can't recommend it enough

Enjoy his technique and colors. Wish I had his 'Seascapes' book.
