"The Two Most Important Days of Your Life" tells the story of Coach Michael Coleman. One week before he gives the commencement address at Thompson High School’s graduation, Coach Coleman is asked to speak at the funeral of one of his former students who tragically took his own life.
The funeral and subsequent encounters lead Coach Coleman to discovering what life is really about and to sharing a message at graduation that everyone needs to hear.
3 1/2 stars for this surprising gem, my daughter bought at a thrift store intending to make into an art project - I had her give me the inside book pages (she kept the hard cover for her art project). It was a VERY quick, easy read, a cool motivational story. I liked the premise that it's of a coach on the verge of retiring, one who has already been a great influence on many lives, but who realizes he has some tweaking to to, and some important things yet to do. I love that quote by Mark Twain, and the idea that finding out your "WHY" you were born is how YOU control your destiny.
This book is a wholesome pick-me-up. I appreciate the way the authors weave in anecdotal messages in a way that’s not preachy. The plot was a bit predictable, but it didn’t stop me from completing it. I would recommend this read for young adults transitioning from high school into “the real world”, it has a lot of wisdom to offer.
