2020 bk 121: 2022 bk 38. I believe this to be the best written of Nancy Bartholomew's quirky mystery/romance novels. It truly fits the category of a screwball comedy with a feisty heroine who has seen trouble and come out the other side, only to have to dive in. There is a strong and almost silent handsome police detective wanting to help, a transplanted to the south Italian-American family, and a gang of old guys, neighbors, and bumbling thugs, crooks, oh and an ex-husband. A fun read with the clues revealed as needed and not in a rush at the end. An excellent read during our time of isolation and/or quarantine. 2022 addendum: Still a fun read even in this time of COVID!

Very light and fluffy book with just enough mystery to keep me going. I have to admit, I did not figure out the answer to mystery until the very end. Bartholomew is the next step up from Evanovich. The sex is sexier and a bigger part of her stories but the mystery plot line in also well developed and intersting.
Basic storyline (to remind myself not to give away anything) is that clueless wife has escaped to the South somewhere to start a new life away from her porn filming, ex hubby. Buys a house, starts fixing it up, people start dying and trying to kill her and the hero protects and rescues her. Full of zany characters. Would make a great series!
