Amazing, must have book. The photography that takes readers into history is beautiful and fascinating. Every picture tells an amazing, do not miss, story.

This is a great resource for serious photography hobbyists. The series covers both photo techniques and technology, the latter has changed up of course since we've gone digital. The technique volumes are absolutely relevant today. I found a set it mint condition for $20. The content is both useful as well as an historical artifact.

This book series is a regular feature of small libraries and used-book stores. Of the lot, this is the most valuable to someone who sees the medium not as a way to dress-up the world with sunsets and celebrities, but to grapple with it as it is.

Published in 1971, this series is a comprehensive overview of many aspects of photography. Only the titles specific to equipment; The Camera; Light and Film; and The Print are a bit outdated, but not completely for the same principles still apply such as shutter speed, depth of field, etc. By far, a great series for any would be serious photographer even today.
