This book portrays the world of the Old and New Testaments: a world where mighty empires rose and fell; where innovations ranged from writing and chariot warfare to the seven day week of Old Babylon and the keeping of domestic pets; where the great religions of Judaism and Christianity were born. Lively text suitable for readers of all ages, and more than 200 color illustrations and maps bring Biblical times to life.
This was an excellent reflection on the lands of the Scriptures and holy history, and the facts inside (as well as the art) were fascinating. For example: “In 1986, a disagreement over cleaning rights in Bethlehem’s Church of the Nativity brought Greek and Armenian clergy to blows.” It was just a little tedious at times. Amen.
