Denise Linn’s personal journey began as a result of a near-death experience at age 17. Her life-changing experiences and remarkable recovery set her on a spiritual quest that led her to explore the healing traditions of many cultures, including those of her own Cherokee ancestors, the Aborigines in the Australian bush, and the Zulus in Bophuthatswana. She trained with a Hawaiian kahuna (shaman), and Reiki Master Hawayo Takata. She was also adopted into a New Zealand Maori tribe. In addition, Denise lived in a Zen Buddhist monastery for more than two years. Denise is an internationally renowned teacher in the field of self-development. She’s the author of the bestseller Sacred Space and the award-winning Feng Shui for the Soul, and has written 16 books, which are available in 24 languages. Denise has appeared in numerous documentaries and television shows worldwide, gives seminars on six continents, and is the founder of the International Institute of Soul Coaching®, which offers professional certification programs in life coaching.
I was in a bookstore, browsing the shelf and this book fell on me. I looked at it, put it back on the shelf... it kept falling on me, so I just had to buy it. Wonderful, insightful and interesting read.
Very thorough. A little TOO thorough, in that there's an awful lot of padding that went into making this a 300-page book. The practical information it contains could be condensed into about 50 pages, and would be more useful if it were.
Author unabashedly touts homeopathy, flower remedies, and other trash. This is like the Sylvia Browne genre of New age books: pagan on the surface but underneath lurks pseudo-science, cultural appropriation, and angels. Skip it.
Five star review because it's the first book I read about Feng Shui, and a lot of topics have been touched and gave an in depth idea of what options you have to enhance your surroundings from an energetic perspective.
I listened to the book on Audible - but will buy a physical copy to easily reread the tips and tricks. On Audible the recording was fine, but I was slightly annoyed by the pronounciation of the word 'herbs' ('urps').
I skipped one chapter - about angels - as this is to 'fluffy' for me and seemed to have no link with the traditional Chinese Feng Shui. Never the less all other topics where relevant, and discribed clear and in an easy to implement manor.
It's a bit woo woo, however, I enjoyed reading some of the suggestions. I was particularly interested in the feng shui sections. I really enjoyed all the Native American references.
An excellent book for both novices and experts in space-clearing. It is packed with tons of information about various technqiues from different cultures that are useful for the home, apartment and office so if you are looking for a comprehensive book on the subject, this one is definately the way to go. This will definately servce as a reference book in the future and is worth rereading as there is a lot of information packed into this seemingly small book.
While the author covers feng shui techniques, this book is more focused on Native American methods of space clearing and is thus more nature-focused (the first section of the book describes how the four primary elements - earth, fire, air and water - can be harnessed to cleanse a space). Personally, I think this is a benefit, as opposed to a downside, because there are no strict methods to follow (like in feng shui), so these techniques can easily be implemented by anyone without any prior knowledge or training in the subject.
What drew me to this book was not what kept me interested. I love this book!! it has everything i wondered about about energy especially in your home and other places. it offers many methods and gives many equal alternative tools that can be used. it is a manual that looks at all aspects of energy of the home from emotions, ley lines, ghosts, stale energy, sickness, natural vibrations, feng shui and much much more.
This book will so help you organize and clear your home on a spiritual level. Yes, we all love our decluttering books (thank you, Peter Walsh). But this book delves into the spiritual aspect of how to truly clear your home.
This book is a classic space clearing, feng shui book that belongs on every bookshelf.
I actually enjoyed the information in the book. It just became very tedious and many chapters could have been omitted. I will try some of the clearing techniques and feng shui in my home. There was value to many of her offerings.
In the end it must be our hearts and our souls that decide how we want to inhabit our homes. An open heart and an open mind will envelop and embrace with love all of our living spaces, from the privacy of our own house or apartment to the global village that is our planetary home. A rigid belief system of what is right and wrong in our home will lessen the positive-energy field radiating around our home much more than would a pile of dirty clothes in the middle of the room, dishes not washed or an uncleared room. It is your Intention, your love and your compassion that allow the living spaces around you to glimmer and radiate with life and spirit.l Holding your home sacred within yourself, at the beginning and end of every day, is not about what you do—it is about who you are. Accepting yourself with love and gentleness, exactly the way you are, creates one of the greatest forces in the universe. It reaches beyond all form. Who you are is enough. There is nothing more that you need in order to be all right. You are all right exactly as you are right now. Your home is all right, too, just as it is. To accept yourself and the extension of yourself that your home represents is the first step toward Spirit. It is your vision for your home that matters. It does not matter if you do not have the money or time or physical energy to create all that exists in your heart all at once. Your Intention is holy and will bring all that you love and hope for into being when the time is right. It is your Intention and prayers that will bring the energy of light and joy flooding in through your doors and shining back out through your windows into the darkness. The love that you put into your home as you physically clear it, the affirmations that you say as you spiritually cleanse its space, all form a kind of spiral to Spirit, which in turn funnels the loving energy of Spirit back to you.
Your home can be a sanctuary in the changing times ahead, it can function as a lightning rod to disseminate and transmit energies, through you and out into the universe. Your home can act like a magnet, attracting positive energy which will be distilled and transmited outwards in all directions. This has a positive, powerful affect on the area surrounding your home, radiating goodness in ever-expanding circles throughout the planet. Your home can resonate, sing and pulse with vibrant Light energy that can touch the lives of everyone around you. Your home can become Sacred Space. When you are enveloped in its Sacred Space, you reconnect with your own energy sources, with the love and the angelic forces around you. You open new channels for energy to flow in and radiate outwards. And then, as if by magic, love, health and abundance seem newly created everywhere around you. Do not doubt the power of who you are and the power of the energy field you can create within your home. You and your home can make a difference in the times ahead.
I also loved hearing about her near death experience as I’ve had one similar. And how her view shifted her world entirely. I’m excited to see how much more aligned my life becomes.
yeah, i found a bunch of her books used and scooped them up.. then ingested them like candy..
this one gets a lower star review only because i found it a bit tedious.. i understand the concept of cleansing your home, clearing out negative energy and infusing loving, positive vibes into your personal spaces, but i found a whole book on it, and only that.. to be overdone.. it's very detailed and precise in how to make your spaces sacred.. but if you are reading this book, i am sure you already believe in this and partake in your own practices... i guess i am saying, i didn't really learn much in this book.. instead of following what works for someone else, i like to develop my own ways, as the more personal, the better it works for me.. and even if you are new to this idea, i think you'd grow weary trying to incorporate all the suggestions in this book.. it's A LOT to learn.. probably more than most would do..
This book exposed me to a lot of new ideas and reinforced some that I already had. The back cover explains, “Everything in the universe is composed of constantly changing energy, including your home and its contents.” The nineteen chapters share a lot of the author’s interesting beliefs and suggestions for us to create more positive spaces in which to live and work. In chapter fourteen she shares that she believes in angels and protectors and offers suggestions to invite them into our homes. I have become but will remain conscious of the items I bring into and keep in my home. Overall, Sacred Space reinforced my own beliefs that we need to listen to our intuition, that our mind is a powerful muscle, and that we need to surround ourselves with the people, things, and experiences we love.
Kindle version needs better editing. In many places r & n appear as m. E.g corners appear as comers. Many other places have spelling mistakes as well. Besides the editing, the book is easy to read & gives a good overview of space clearing/cleansing concepts for your home or office. I think this is a good place to start & then go deeper into whatever may interest you further. The appendix also needs updating - it has physical addresses & 800 numbers instead of email addresses and/or websites or useful links. A better version is definitely needed but I would still recommend.
As a theta healing practitioner I don’t like calling spirits. I would rather call the Creator directly & he will bless me with the needed energies. The book in general was informative & covered a LOT of things, which was great. Some of which: The four elements, the four directions, symbols, sounds, spirits, furniture arrangement, feng shui, essential oils … and so much more.
A friend lent me this book, and I am glad she did. It has proved invaluable, and I have used lots of the energy clearing techniques for my own home, and it does make it feel a better place to live. I will be buying myself a copy of this book for future reference.
An amazing book. I knew for many years the power of uncluttering, but Denise gave me a whole new sense in the magic of cleansing! Sacred Space indeed! Highly recommended
This was pretty good information, but had a lot of fluff to it. What I mean is, if we kept only the applicable info that should be used for reference, it would be a much shorter book.
This is more of a reference manual than a simple book about cleansing your space. The author covers a lot of ground in this work. House clearing is introduced first, but other topics include the incorporation of elements, essential oils, sound (singing bowls, chimes, etc.), numerology, feng shui and totems. Sections on moving into a new home, ghosts and setting up a home office are included. Highly recommend this one for all of the useful information being in one book.
