Paddy O'Reilly's Like the World's an Armchair - country people trying to get by and get along with each other. Great voice.

Nina Cullen's The German Teacher - smart, sad, sympathetically-frustrating story about a woman trying and failing to hold on to an unresponsive live-in boyfriend.
