A novel set in Dartmoor Great Britain in the 1960's, with a young girl devoting herself to restoring a broken-down steeplechase mare despite obstacles posed by various members of the community and her own poverty and responsibilities to her two younger brothers. A heartwarming story that gives a view of people at another time and place. I would like to read other books by this author.
