Now I'm not the kind of guy who blames a company for trying to make a buck, but this book in particular was just shameless mining, and worse yet preying on the new players who can be easily turned off by the expense of the game. It gives some basic advice (much of which can be found in the PHB, the rest of which can be found in any one of a thousand RPG message boards) on character backgound developement and building without providing any useful information.
Well, if your playing 3rd edition (possibly 3.5) D&D this book is applicable. i found that a DM had to be very, circumspect about alloying some of the ideas here as in 3rd edition players can get very powerful very fast.
Good building blocks and guidelines for quickly building your D&D 3e/3.5e character before fleshing it out! While written for 3e, it's definitely applicable for 3.5e.
