Wonderful book for the one who wants to know more about the fighting of the Canadian forces during Normandy Campaign (from Juno to Falaise gap). You have the historical facts, then the author sets up like a tour you can follow on your one to see the different monuments. There are great maps and photographs.
This is a very good book and now I want to go to Normandy again with this book in hand and follow the battles. Mr. Copp has combined a short, but detailed synopsis of each part of the Canadian’s role in the Normandy Campaign from the landings on June 6 to closing of the Falaise Pocket on August 21. This is one of the only books I have read that talks about the role of the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion during the initial drops on June 6. It goes through the Battles around Capiquet and Caen, and operations Windsor, Charnwood, Goodwood, Atlantic, Spring, Totalize, and Tractable. At the end of each chapter there is a section on where to go to see memorials, battlefields, and cemeteries. A great book to have while visiting Normandy.
