"Dream On" - 1*
Depressed and bitter Katie was left by her husband 5 years ago. Now 45, she still can't get over it and seems to curse and blame him all the time for leaving her.... Then he comes back and they immediately rekindle their passion. The twist is STUPID! :(
"Velvet Strokes" - 3*
He lost her once because he couldn't deal with the fact that he is from a prestigious family and she is a poor waitress. Now that , 2 years later, he got her in his life again-will he make the same mistakes?
Sexy story, I liked the chemistry between the two main characters, but didn't like that he shared her with his cousin (eww) and that he was such a spoiled momma's boy to begin with!

Full of trust issues and insecurity, Maddie leaves her husband only a few months after the wedding, after thinking she saw him cheating. It turns out it was a misunderstanding but she won't listen to his explanations. Few months later, with the divorce final, she goes back to his mountain cabin to pick up some personal items, only to find him there, and for them both to get snowed in...

Three stories about former lovers being reunited.
Interestingly, Jaci Burton is the only author I had heard of in this trio, and I liked her story the least. I would read more from Susie Charles and Beverly Havlir, but have not been inspired to seek out more from Jaci Burton. Both Susie Charles and Beverly Havlir did a great job with the notoriously difficult to pull off short, sexy story with plot and at least some depth to the characters.

Story of a bitter 45 year old woman whose husband left after 20 years of marriage. He returns out of the blue five years later wanting to make it up to her. Surprising, but ridiculous twist. Pretty vanilla. 2 stars
Velvet Strokes - Susie Charles
A modern-day aristocrat and barmaid whose love match fell apart when he wouldn't acknowledge her to his family. A couple of years later, when he needs her to pose for an important commission, will he make the same mistake again? Hot! Contains one m/f/m scene. 4 stars
Irresistible - Beverly Havlir
A brief but passionate marriage fell apart when Maddie surprised her husband at his interstate hotel and caught him kissing another woman. She refuses to listen to his explanation that it was not what it looked like, and files for divorce. When they find themselves together and snowed in at the cabin they used to share, the heat between them explodes. Contains some kink. Hot! 4 stars

Multi author themed [second chance romances] anthology. Good read although mostly not to my taste.
JACI BURTON - "Dream On" keep the tissues handy - at least I had to. Contemporary setting, has paranormal elements.
SUSIE CHARLES - "Velvet Strokes" this ties to her Velvet Ties [available in ebook and print] which I love. One of the heroes in VT is the major supporting character in VS. H&H of VS have a cameo in VT. Contemporary setting, contains a menage scene. Very good read.
BEVERLY HAVLIR - "Irresistible" I didn't care for this one, not because it wasn't well written [it was] and not really because the plot devices for the separation and reunion annoyed me [OK, they did] but because the heroine was a fragile twit who believes the worst about her man from the get go. These two did not know each other well enough to get married the first time...

The only author I new in this anthology was Jaci Burton and it was the only story I did not like! The other two short stories were great!

This book is HOT HOT HOT!! The first book by Burton is the weakest. Ironic, since she's the only author I knew of the three making her the most well-known of the three. I almost stopped reading because of her 'out of this world' crazy & unbelievable supernatural story. The second one called 'Velvet Strokes' by Susie Charles is the winner when in comes to the BEST SEX SCENES! And the third one "Irresistible" by Beverly Havlir is the most emotional with wonderful sexy scenes to boot & is the perfect story to end a very satisfying sexy anthology. Okay, let me go back to #2. This may be a SPOILER so if you haven't read it yet maybe you shouldn't continue but the sex scene between Elizabeth, Tom (her former lover & painter)& his drop dead gorgeous model cousin Richard is still in my head and I cannot stop thinking of their menage trois...Lizzie in the middle between the cousins! OH. MY! I thought I'd read all until this! It was SUPER DUPER HOT HOT HOT!!!

The first story "Dream On" was okay. The title makes it obvious where the story is headed. Although it was a nice story it was awfully depressing.
"Velvet Strokes" was quite good. The characters are really nicely developed and interesting.
Despite the unoriginal title "Irresistable" was probably my favorite story. The characters work through a lot to be together and I found their struggle very moving.

"Dream On" by Jaci Burton had a twist I really did not see coming. Kate is still angry at her husband who left her aburptly 5 years ago and when Jack shows back up her heart is having none of it but her body wants him bad.
