Each project is built by combining basic clay shapes and using simple tools that can be found around the house. Detailed step-by-step photography lead readers of any skill level through thirteen characters, each accompanied by clever variations.

Pros:
- It's a fun read: each character has his own poem, and there's humor mixed in with the instructions.
- Great step-by-step photos.
- "Variations" page at the end of each chapter gives encouragement and guidance for tackling your own versions.
- Good info on armature and sculpture-building basics.

Cons:
- Doesn't cover much detail finishing work (texturing, smoothing, etc.), so the end results don't look especially polished.
- Characters aren't as charming as those in Tilov's first book, Creating Fantasy Polymer Clay Characters.

For all of the sculptors and crafters out there who love creating magical beings and creatures and clay, this is the book for you!
Filled with tons of colorful photographs and detailed instructions to go from fundamental basic characters to advanced and difficult ones, this book is great for the crafter!
Make vampires, gorgons, gnomes, fairies, mermaids, pixies, hobbits, mermaids, griffin, sphinx, centaurs, leprechauns, sea monsters and dragons!
It gives honest time frame of time, detailed supply list (most of which, aside from clay, you probably have lying around the house) and create whole worlds of wonderful imaginative things!

*Downside, Polymer clay is expensive so bear this notation in mind. You may be inspired by the ideas or make the investment yourself. Happy Crafting!
