Quick "review": I loved the beginning, which was sweet and sexy, but then everything was shoved aside to make room for the sex fest. What saved this read from being a complete disaster was Rylan and Maia: they were adorable and very much in love with each other. I wish this story was longer, though.

Note: As it happened in the 1st book, Rees, Rio was called to be the 3rd in a little ménage play with the H/h. Man, the guy is always there to give a friend a helping hand - and any other part of his body, LOL.

“Want to play a game?”
“Yes.”
“Pretend that you love me.”
“I do love you.”

The story of Maia, the one and only female Shareem who was in love with Rylan, a Level 2 Shareem, since they were children.
Maia was lost when DNAmo was closed. Twenty years later Maia was discovered inside a life pod.

Maia and Rylan are mentioned often in many “The Tales of Shareem” books. They live happily isolated at the mountains of Bor Nargan and they are making singing spheres.

A heartbreaking short story and a nice addition to the series.

Short Story Science Fiction Erotica

MAIA AND RYLAN is a short story that is between books one and two of the Tales of the Shareem series. This is a short story erotica. Emphasis on the sexual relationship with some m/m/f thrown in. This is the story of one of the male Shareem, genetically engineered men created as sex slaves. Rylan feel in love with the only woman Shareem created. He lost her during the time when the government shut down the company that created them. He has been searching for her since. This is the story of what happens when he finds her. The story is okay but Ritter rushed and because there is so much necessary explanation there is little time for the relationship to be explored. v It is better m as part of the series than on its own.

A short story in the Shareem world.
Rees sister in the DNAmo facility was Maia. Right before the fall of DNAmo, Maia and Rylan was planning to run away, together. When the mayhem started Maia was gone, disappeared and Rylan´s been searching ever since.
Now, twenty years later, a life pod is found, and Maia is kept inside. Can she be saved?
Futuristic smutty fluff and a HEA for two long lost lovers.

"Maia and Rylan" by Allyson James. Book 1.5 in the Tales of the Shareem series.

This novella is really more of a short story than a full novella. The story takes place between book 1 "Rees" and book 2 "Rio" but can actually be read any time juring the series. The main characters are Maia and Rylan but Rio is also in this story, so if you're reading this out of order, remember, this is before Rio gets his happily ever after in book 2.

I really enjoyed this sci-fi-ish erotic romance short story. Since the story is so short, I'd pretty much be telling you what the story is.

Maia is the only female Shareem in existence. Rylan is a level two Shareem male who has loved Maia since they were children. When the genetics facility DNAmo was taken down, Maia and Rylan got separated and now 20 years later Rylan has finally found Maia. But she has no memory of who he is.

Can't say much more than that really. Being an erotic short story there is voyeurism, m/f sex, m/f/m menage and some bondage play. I actually found myself thinking I wish the story was longer because I thought the introduction of a female Shareem was really interesting and the love they have for each other was really heartwarming.

Overall, a really good addition to the series.

DNAmo created the Shareem—males genetically altered to be the ultimate in sexual pleasure. Hidden in their files is record of a secret experiment—the first and only female Shareem, a black-haired, blue-eyed woman named Maia.

Rylan a level two Shareem, isn't supposed to see Maia but he finds ways to. He befriends her and teaches her every sinful game he knows. He is in love with Maia and won't let other Shareem see her or be near her.
When DNAmo shuts down, Rylan races to find her before he gets caught but when it comes clear that she is gone, Rylan is heartbroken.
But Rylan keeps on searching for her for twenty years until finally he does.

Maia and Rylan was a short and sweet but very HOT novella. Loved it.

This one was way to short. Almost a let down as well. The sex was great and we have an intriguing start to some new characters but that leaves you wondering why they didnt get more time on paper. Especially since we finally get to meet a female equivalent of the male shareem. What can she do? will she test out her powers? I know she has a true love but they are sexual beings so testing out what she is capable of would have been satisfying, instead I walked away feeling like I had the female equivalent to blue balls.

I loved Rylan's dedication to Maia. He sees her as a young girl and decides that she is his. When she disappears he spends years searching for her, never once giving up. Maia is sweetness personified. She's lost the memories of her past and even though she's afraid she puts her trust in Rylan. Her inner self reaches for him, not Rio. Rylan gives her back her memories, a new life and all of himself.
Highly recommended author and series

This should have been longer!!

I loved the story but it felt like the author just said...OK, here is what the story line is...Lets put a whole lot of sex with it and then publish! Rylan & Maia are great characters and saved it for me. I really like all the other Shareem tales but this really needed to be longer and more detailed for me.

This was a quick filler story between Rees and Rio and seemed unnecessary. That said, however, it was a decent story on its own. It would have been nice if the memories had come back in pieces, or if we didn't go from Maia being wary of the two men to instantly having a threesome with nothing in between. Ignoring the plot jumps, the characters were likeable and the sex was pretty hot.

To love and look for someone for over twenty years is heartbreaking. To be kept in a state of consciousness where when you are found and awakened you don't remember anyone or anything is frightening. But you notice that his voice and touch eases your troubled mind. This is a sweet sensual sexy story about the only female Shareem and her love. Enjoy this quick read I did.

I have to say I think this one may be my favorite. These two Shareem have had to go through so much to be together and it was just an amazing story. I really like how you really see how the Shareem have great family atmosphere to them they all look out for each other and support each other in this book was absolutely wonderful

I really enjoyed this. Extremely well written for a novella and the short amount of space allowing for it. The story of Rylan searching for Maia and then finally finding her after 20 years is very well done and adding Rio into the mix just makes it all the more fun.

As always I enjoyed so much the sexiness in the Shareem books. It's amazing how some authors can actually pull the reader into the story making it seem as if the reader is PART of the story line.
Love it!

The beginning of the book was great. The characters were so in love and then the plot disappeared and it became solely sex .
It was a shame as up until this point I was really enjoying the book.

4.5⭐️5🌶️. This erotic short story was well done in spite of its short length. The story of Maia and Rylan was beautiful and heartbreaking. It was a complete story and I recommend it. I was glad when I ready that it it was package together with Eland and Jeanne’s novella as that story, read first, gave all of the backstory and specifics of the Shareem and DNAmo so it wasn’t necessary in any detailed way in this short story. I wonder for those who haven’t read any other Shareem story, if it felt lacking in backstory alone?

Such a sweet and sad story. 20 years lost due to a fanatical scientist.
But the shared hotness was superb.
Happy Rylan finds his Maia and gets her back. So sweet that he’d built a house for her whilst searching all those years.
Read and reviewed previously but all those reviews are missing.

This is not the clone you are looking for...Full disclosure, I didn't read the first book in the series. I just picked up this quickie to see if I wanted to read the rest of the series. I do. I enjoyed this short, sweet, and sexy piece. There isn't too much world-building, just a high-level overview to get the gist of what is going on.
